6:25 |
Up early, at 5:10 because we are off to Cleveland, for a visit at the Cleveland Clinic Spine Institute, then on to Cleveland Hopkins Airport to pick up our daughter, Beth, and granddaughter Marisa. Both will be staying with us at the lake for a couple of weeks. It's a pink sky morning, a coolish 61º and we should have lots of sunshine over the next few days. I got in a quick paddle, leaving at 6:20, no heron photos as they are obviously sleeping in.

A Hungry Kingfisher |
Yesterday was a busy day for both of us, getting things ready for our drive to Cleveland and the arrival of Beth and Marisa. I picked up Avett Brother tickets at the CI at 8:45 from a woman who advertised them for sale a couple of months ago. We were lucky to get them. When I returned home, we worked on getting bedrooms ready, clearing out closets, getting beds made, all the sorts of things we have done over the years in preparing for our family's visit. We did enough that I worked up a sweat so I took a swim before getting ready to drive to Lakewood. I had various stops, for coffee, to wash the car, and get money before hitting Wegman's, to stock up on a few items for the next week. Despite the fact that it was Tuesday, I moved through quickly and found a short check out line, a good day shopping,
Lunch was easy, the leftover Indian dinner from last night. Evie was busy in the kitchen, what else, getting lunches and dinner ready, for Thursday, one a favorite of Marisa. We were done with most of our work by 2:00, so Evie relaxed on the dock and I read and napped. Around 3:00, I gave Evie a break and fired up the lawn mower and cut the grass. It was much cooler than I thought, in the high 70's not 80's so it was pleasant mowing.

Dinner With Our Woodlawn Neighbors |
We were going out to neighbor's for dinner which was great, no worry about what to have for dinner for Evie, no dishes to do for me. We left about 6:30 and had a fun evening at Ken and Marjorie's, along with their daughter, Jodie, and our good friend, Charlie, the trumpeter, head of the CI bands. Dinner was Greek inspired, by Jodie, our soon to be neighbor, chicken breasts with oregano, orzo salad with feta cheese, and for dessert, homemade blueberry pie with ice cream. It was a great meal, great friends and we did not walk home until 10:00.
