It's a pleasant morning, 66º at the moment, quite a difference from yesterday. It's overcast, still humid from last night's half an inch of rain although it should clear up late this morning. A few boats are out fishing but for the most part, it's quiet with only the sound of purple martins. And it's now 8:20, the roofers are back working and I was able to get in a good forty five minute paddle.

It Doesn't Quack |
Yesterday, like Sunday, was a hot, humid miserable day here at the lake. I left before 7:00 for a paddle and when I returned, our yard was already busy with Amish roofers, getting ready to put a new roof on our house. Surprise, as I thought they were not coming until Wednesday. About six of them were dropped off by a van, picked up later in the day at 3:00 since they do not drive or have cars of their own. Once they put their ladders up, it was work time and they rarely stopped the rest of the day except for lunch. And they could not have picked a worst day, a hotter and more humid day to be on a roof.
I left for yoga at 9:00, not letting their work to get in the way of my routine. Yin was packed as always, lots of back stretching, just what I needed. After class, I had a coffee and picked up some eggs at Ryder's Cup before stopping at the bank, then Sav A Lot to pick up some tortillas for our dinner. When I returned home, our front porch was already roofed, as they work in stages, taking off a section of shingles, then roofing it. It's a good thing because later in the early evening, it rained pretty hard but the roof was still completely shingled, a third or more with new shingles, the rest with the old.
The workers did take time off for lunch, relaxing in the shade of our trees. I had my lunch, homemade chicken and zucchini soup, a chicken sandwich with tomatoes and pickles, in the TV room and watched some BABYLON BERLIN then some futbol. For most of the rest of the day, we stayed inside, our windows closed, as it was too warm, too humid, too miserable outside on the dock even for Evie. I am sure we have had just as warm and humid of days but yesterday sure seemed like the worst. We both chanted 'bring on winter.'
The Amish left around 3:30 and Evie went out on the dock briefly, to test the weather and to go for a swim. I ventured out with my suit on, washed down the inside and outside of my kayak before jumping in the lake to cool off. Around 5:30, we sat down in our neighbor's yard, under a shade tree, and shared appetizers and had a beer. It was actually pleasant at that hour.

Stormy Porch Time |
Early in the afternoon, Evie had put together black bean and chicken enchiladas, so she put them in the oven for a half an hour, made a salad and we had a tasty dinner. We put them on top of lettuce, topped them with salsa, cheese, and sour cream and it's our version of a great Mexican dinner. We tried to watch the new series on HBO called SUCCESSION by I finally said enough, as it's silly, stupid, and I dislike just about every one of the characters. We then watched a really good BILLIONS, as the tables are turned on bitter enemies, Bobby and Chuck and both are betrayed by colleagues as a new chapter begins in their relationship.

Windy, Wet, And Wild |
Around 7:00, we took a break in our viewing to sit on the front porch and watched a vicious storm move in, pour rain on the lake, with a wind so strong that water was blowing over our dock. It lasted about 20 minutes and we got about a half inch of rain before it settled down and best of all, it cooled off and we could open windows.
