Waiting For The Sun On A Clear Morning

6:47

7:34
7:37
It's 7:15, the sun has yet to rise and I have watched it change from black, to orange, to light pink, with not a cloud in the sky.  And the stars, when I walked outside at 6:00 were bright and twinkling.  In fact, for the past 24 hours, the skies have been absolutely clear, cloudless, and blue.

We left Euclid, after a great breakfast, around 10:30 and took the back, slow way home to the lake, through Findlay Lake and Sherman, ogling the hillsides, the colors of fall.  Surprisingly, the back roads were crowded, as everyone seemed to be out, enjoying the beauty of an autumn summer afternoon.

Back To The Lake
When we drove in the lake was a dark blue, a lapis lazuli, the color we only see on a clear October day.  Evie could hardly wait to get unpacked and out on the dock and enjoy the afternoon of sun and blue skies.  I watched a little football but soon got bored and joined her, reading and finishing my sad making book, THE NIGHTINGALE.  We sat outside for a couple of hours easily, not wanting to move or go in the house and do something.  Finally, the water looked so inviting that Evie jumped in and out just as quickly because it was cold.  We then got out our life jackets and took a paddle over to Long Point and back, on a smooth lake going, a choppy one coming back.  It was good to be back out on the lake, as the sun began to fall behind the trees, putting our dock in shade.

7:31 As Day Fades
We decided to enjoy the late afternoon with some cheese and crackers and a couple of glasses of wine.  It was a wise choice as the sun played amazing tricks on Long Point and we kept jumping up and taking pictures, one seemingly better than the other.  I don't think, however, that the photographs do justice to to view, to the kaleidoscope of fall colors at the moment.  We actually sat listening to Sonos and sipping our wine for at least an hour and a half before Evie went in the kitchen, to put together our dinner of leftover schnitzel and potato cakes.

We watched some junk TV, waiting for The Good Wife to come on, saving Homeland and The Affair for tonight.  We have become disenchanted with The Good Wife and think it has become silly, with ridiculous situations.  But that's just us.
