7:00 |
It's almost 7:00, have been up for forty five minutes. It's a foggy morning, can just see the tree trunks in our front yard, the lake and Long Point hidden by the fog. It's 45º out, may clear up later in the day, and get in the 50's. Just walked outside to look at the yard, hardly a green shoot anywhere, all grays and blacks this morning because of the fog, and I took some photos, just playing around with what it looks like at 7:00.

Buddha Welcomes Spring |
Yesterday began with breakfast at 8:00 with Charlie Heinz. We have been the only two regulars since early January when the others headed south. They will be back, however, at the beginning of next week so we will have the gang back together next week. Charlie is always fun to talk with because he knows the area so well and we both start our mornings out the same way, listening to NPR. Because of yoga, I usually have something light, a Belgium waffle, carbs for energy I suppose. Yoga was good, lots of females and me, and Danielle complimented all of us on our progress. You are never too old for praise. And because Danielle is also a masseuse, she's a hands on teacher, walking around, putting her hands on her students, to extend a stretch. I like it, probably because it shows she is interested in our progress. In some studios, those in the big cities, male teachers have to be careful to avoid this sort of thing because they may be accused sexual abuse. After yoga, I stopped at Brick Elephant Design, in Lakewood, looking for a gift for Evie. The shop is an eclectic mix of 'stuff' from all over the world, open only on Thursday. I picked up a cool vase, a candle holder, and brass holder for a photograph or picture, and surprised Evie with them. What a good husband. I skipped coffee, had enough before and during breakfast and came home to a lunch of lentil soup (it's almost gone) and a cheese sandwich.

Bufflehead Ducks Are Back |
Evie could not make up her mind whether to work out or not but finally made the decision to 'just do it.' She also was able to get her hair trimmed, by Casee, who has moved from Master Cuts to Walmart. After her workout, she stopped at T.J. Maxx's, just in case, and found some neat pasta bowls, something we have been looking for over the past year. While she was gone, I did a few chores outside, picking up twigs, setting the fishing line to keep the geese off our lawns, and making owl guards for our purple martin house, which goes up in a few days, on April 15th. Hopefully, this will help keep the predators away from the Martin babies in July and August.

We relaxed with a glass of wine and hummus and pita chips before dinner, listening to Potus on Sirius Radio, Evie's new favorite news channel. For dinner, Evie made a great salmon salad, with avocadoes and hard boiled eggs. What a great way to make use of leftover salmon, either in a salad for dinner, or like yesterday's lunch, making a salmon salad with mayo. Not much on TV, so we watched a new show called 'About A Boy,' which had gotten good reviews but we thought it was silly and predictable...surprise. We then watched some Idol before going up to bed to read.
We did not get to kayak yesterday because it was so windy, the lake still partially frozen. But today there should be no excuses, the ice is gone and at the moment, there's no wind. Let's hope it stays that way. Tonight we are going to Fredonia, for dinner at the Ellicotville Brew Pub, and then to the 1891 Opera House, to see FOOTWORKS PERCUSSIVE DANCE ENSEMBLE; INCREDIBLE FEETS. It should be fun.
