7:40 |
I was up at my usual time, 6:50 which, because of Daylight Savings Time, is really 7:50. At the moment, it's 17º out and it looks like temperatures will linger in the 30's for a couple of days, then the snow will return late Tuesday and Wednesday. The long term forecast does not suggest Spring is near; let's hope they are wrong.
I was up early enough yesterday, to have had my coffee, relaxed and written my blog by 8:30 so that I was able to make yoga with Chris, with ten others, a good class of classical yoga, lots of warrior poses and other related bends. I stopped at Ryder's Cup, talked with Joyce, the owner, met her other sister, and we talked for awhile about their growing up in Jamestown. Most of their family still lives in the area. Evie, for once, was able to sleep in until 9:00, so she felt great the rest of the day though she missed an early work out with me. Around 1:00, after lunch of newly made vegetable soup, she drove to the gym while I stayed home, read some, watched basketball and around 3:30, took off on my cross country skis for a great ski on the lake. It was ugly out most of the day, gray, wet, and foggy but the snow was perfect for skiing so I really made good time, sliding down to Bootey Bay and back in record time, with no frozen skis, no slush. Can't wait to try it again today. Evie had a great workout as well, walked six miles, and was able to get on Spotify and find the music she liked. A good day for both of us health wise.
Most importantly, however, around 5:00, we finally trapped the pesky squirrel, who was attacking our heavy duty orange bird seed container, chewing off parts to get at the seeds. He had figured out a way to get the crackers with peanut butter the past two times, but not this time. Evie put bird seed on the crackers and I set it in the far back of the cage, so we got him. I drove him over to the woods in Bemus, figuring he would not be able to cross the lake.

At Brazil's On Main, Westfield, NY |
At 6:00, we drove over to the Mc Clures for a beer and some interesting Belgium cheese called Chimay, with a smoky hard to describe taste. After the beer, we drove to Westfield where we fortunately had reservations at the new hot restaurant in the area, Brazil's on Main. It was packed, noisy, with people enjoying their food and each other, a great atmosphere. We enjoyed being there, all of us commenting on the ambiance. Our meals were not quite as good as we had hoped, though Evie did love her salmon. Ron and Linda both ordered steaks, Ron liked his, Linda's was a bit tough. And I had an average pasta with shrimp and feta cheese. It was, however, really fun to be out, enjoying a Saturday night with the locals, in fact, we ran in to our neighbors, John and Mary Anne Johnston. We were home by 9:45, in time to race through American Idol before going upstairs to read.
