Heading To Oxford, Ohio, To Visit The Barry's, College Friends

Ready To Enjoy  Cabella's
We are up at 5:00 because we wanted to leave by 6:00, as we have close to a 10 hour drive today before we get to Oxford, Ohio, and stay with our friends.   It's a nice stop, two thirds of the way home, so tomorrow we will have an easier drive, if we don't stop at Trader Joe's.  It's dark and quiet at this time and we should have no traffic this early.

Yesterday, we had no plans for the day so we ended up going shopping until the Chief's game at 3:30, driving about thirty minutes north to the Warren Buffet owned Nebraska Furniture Mart, literally a Mall in itself.  Tom and Mary are redoing their laundry room and kitchen, so they wanted to look at refrigerators and washer and dryers.  This store is amazing, the largest furniture/kitchen/flooring/appliances/ that I have ever seen.  You could get lost in it, easily.  We stayed for an hour, talking with a number of the hundreds of sales persons, there to make your buying easier.  We did not end up buying anything but Tom and Mary now have a good idea of what's available when they get their work done.  After Nebraska, we had to stop at Cabella's, equally large and a destination sight.  It, too, seems to have every thing as you can see from the pictures.  It's just fun to walk around the store, not even shop, looking at the fish and animal exhibits.  Marlena loved it, did not want to leave.  On the way home, we stopped at a model home in Tom's neighborhood that they liked and it was cool, great picture windows overlooking a forest, a great floor plan but tres expensive.  I think they will stay with their house, redoing some of it to fit their needs, a good plan.

When we got back, Frank and Rose, Tom's in laws came over, to watch the Chiefs game and for dinner.  Tom had marinated some flank steak, which he grilled outside, and with salad and left over mashed potatoes we had another great dinner despite the disappointment of watching the Chiefs lose, something I could identify with as a life long Browns' fan.  Evie's sister, Jean, also stopped over before dinner, to say good by and give Nick and Marlena Christmas presents since she is flying off to Scottsdale for the next few months and will not see them.

We took time out from the game to eat, a good idea, because Mary wanted to get Marlena in bed early since she has school tomorrow.  Frank and Rose left after the football game and then Evie and I went upstairs to pack up our things.  I carried our bags down to the car, so we will be ready to head East early tomorrow morning.  It's always nice to have the car packed the night before we leave.  And it's easy when there's just the two of us.
