Chilly Morning--- Another Couple of Inches of Snow

Woman Powered with Twin Snow Shovels
7:45
Up at 5:45 to sameness, darkness, a few twinkling lights over at Bemus, a snow covered car, coffee brewing, a chilly living room, 57º so I turned on the fireplace to warm up the living room.  It's cold here but I just read it is -14º in Oxford, Maine, where our good friends, the Armontrouts have just retired. Now that's cold.
Snow Shoeing Woodlawn/Victoria
Yesterday, when we got up, to the sound of the snow plow clearing our road, we realized we had another five or six inches of snow to clear, plus the two ridges creating by the plow.  So, around 9:30, we went outside with our matching yellow shovels, worked for a good forty minutes, clearing our area, working up quite a sweat I might add even though it was in the teens.

It was a lovely morning to be outside, the sun occasionally peaking through the clouds so we decided to snow shoe in the Victoria/Woodlawn woods.  It was quite a workout, a thirty five minute walk taking close to an hour because of the deep snow, close to two feet in some drifts.  I bushwhacked through the deep snow, creating a beaten path for our hike back, but the going was rigorous and I again worked up a sweat.  It was great to be in the woods, the snow untouched, just us and the frosted woods, thick with snow. And on and off for a good part of the morning, we were treated to a serenade by departing Canadian Geese and Tundra swans, black and white V's in the sky.  When we got home, it was almost time for lunch, so I took a quick shower because we were going shopping at 1:30.
Frozen Woodlawn
We planned on getting all our shopping done yesterday, so we hit the mall, picked up a couple of more gifts for the grandchildren, Evie got her hair trimmed, mailed packages at the Post Office, stopped at the bank,  and we shopped at both Sam's and Wegman's, picking up things we might need for our trip East and for New Year's, when we get back in late December.  Hopefully, we will not have to head to Lakewood again.
Evie's Homemade Pizza
For dinner, Evie had made pizza dough yesterday, so she put together three pizzas, with spinach, tomatoes, and Italian sausage.  She baked them inside as we thought it might be too cold outside to cook on the grill and they were our dinner, along with a salad.  We watched the final episode of Masters of Sex, perhaps our favorite new show this fall, compelling characters and story, set in the 1950's at a teaching hospital, part of Washington University, St. Louis.  Masters has just been fired by the school for his ground breaking but shocking research on human sexuality, not a surprise for this time in our history.
