Pink Sky In the Morning

A Brief Pink Sky

7:22

8:14

It's 7:24, and I have been up since 6:40, waiting for the sky to lighten so that I might kayak. A moment ago, the sky had an amazing show of pink, but it quickly disappeared, and now it's mostly gray. I was only out for 25 minutes because of the winds and waves, making it difficult to kayak north.

A Windy, Rough Kayak Morning

Yesterday was a busy day for Evie, with school and some shopping. I had my usual morning paddle, breakfast, and finished up the blog. I had a doctor's appointment in Westfield at 12:55,  a follow-up on my hospital stay. So that left my morning open, so I decided to get in a walk through Dobbins Woods, one of our favorite walks, about a ten-minute drive. I haven't walked in a couple of months, so I was surprised that it had become an obstacle course. It's a mile and a quarter through the woods, but much of the walking was over planks laid down in wet spots and around tree roots. It was hard to keep my head up because I was balancing on planks or stumbling over roots if I wasn't careful. That's not to say I did not enjoy the walk, but I was surprised at both the number of planks and the abundance of roots. I was out for only 35 minutes and was the only one in the woods.

Lots of Planks

Which Way?

I was home by 11:45, had some veggie soup for lunch, then left for my doctor's appointment at  12:30. I didn't wait long and had a good talk with my PA. He decided I needed an echo of my heart so I will be getting that and he drew some blood to make sure my kidneys were tolerating my new heart drug. I also received a flu shot, and then a nurse and a PA worked on my left ear, trying to remove some wax. After 15 minutes of struggle, they were able to clear it.

I was home at 2:15, just as Evie returned from school and shopping at Wegmans. I helped her unload the groceries and put them away, then read and tried to nap on the downstairs couch. I am finally getting into my new novel, Wild Dark Shore, set on an island near Antarctica. We basically vegged out the rest of the afternoon until 5:00 when Evie had her Zoom call with her sisters. I went out for a walk around the neighborhood until Evie was finished with her call, and we had our wine and listened to the news. For dinner, Evie had put together a broccoli cheese sauce, and we had it over baked potatoes, along with some chicken nuggets we bought this summer for our great-grandson, Rhys. They tasted pretty good! We watched two episodes of Doc on Hulu, then some All Saints until Evie went up to bed. I then watched Spooks until 10:00 when I went to bed.
