Fog Rising And Chilly

6:07

7:15
Fifty Years And Counting
A quiet morning so far, as I was up at 6:00, Evie at 6:20 and everyone else is still sleeping, exhausted, no doubt, from yesterday's big day!  It's almost 7:00 but there's no evidence of a sunrise, other than it's lighter out than it was earlier.  That's how heavy the fog, the steam rising, is this morning.  No doubt the 53ยบ morning is the cause of all this gray.  And it's unusually quiet on the lake, no boats, no bird songs, just my fingers hitting the keys of my Mac Air.  Eerie.

Walking Lakeside Drive
Yesterday was a full and fun day, a great way to spend our 50th anniversary.  No one was eager to get going in the morning, so we sat around, drinking coffee until 9:30 when Evie and my sisters went into the kitchen and made an omelet with tomatoes and feta cheese, what they call a menemen in Turkish.  That was breakfast for those who enjoy eggs; the rest of us had our homemade granola or cereal with fruit.  We decided to go for a walk along Lakeside Drive in Bemus, which has always been our habit when my sisters are here.  So we walked most of way, the three guys leading the way, the gals behind, taking their time, no doubt talking about various gardens and flowers.  It was a perfect morning for a walk, cool enough so that we needed a long sleeve shirt or fleece but by the time we got back to Bemus, it was warm enough for a tee shirt.  The girls shopped at the various clothing stores while the guys sat on the porch of the Seezurh House with a beer.

We were home around 1:00, in time to heat up the sloppy joe's my sister brought and eat outside.  An easy lunch, and always good, nothing like comfort food.  We then relaxed in the yard, enjoying the sun, reading, talking, or snoozing, to each his/her own.  We went for a cruise around 3:00, with a cooler of course, and headed down towards the Chautauqua Institution but it was getting too choppy, so we cruised back to Bemus Bay, where it was much calmer.  A spectacular day on the lake, puffy clouds, blue skies, clear, the wind keep us cool.

We then sat on the dock and sunned until it was time for a swim and to go in to get ready for our anniversary dinner at one of the newer restaurants in Jamestown, the Landmark.  We had been there a couple of times before and used to like it when it was  called the Ironstone, at least ten years ago.  It was not as crowded as expected (Carol Burnett was being featured at the CI), but we had great meals and service and enjoyed ourselves with numerous bottles of vino.  I had one of my all time favorites, a rack of lamb, and everyone else had fish, either salmon or halibut.  And we had a strawberry/ice cream cake for dessert, compliments of the restaurant.  We did not get home until 9:30, and collapsed on the couches and chairs, still full from our dinners.  We looked at old photographs and talked until 11:00 and went up to bed.
