Everyone's Up |
Well, it's now 8:30, and I have been up for two hours, then Evie shortly after. Now, we have been sitting here talking for at least an hour, the five adults and two dogs, while all the kids are still sleeping or, perhaps, are up in their rooms on their iPads watching a show. Nowadays, we think they are sleeping but in reality, they may be awake, watching something on their devices before coming down to breakfast.

Saturday was not the kind of day you wanted to be outside, despite the fact that we had the Bissells staying with us. The girls were up early Saturday morning for them, around 7:30 for some reason. So it was fun to have them awake and happy, excited to be together again. Evie made breakfast sandwiches for whoever wanted them, mostly the adults, the kids happy with cereal or toast. We then planned out our day around meals, and Evie, Rami, and I went off to get food for the next couple of days. We decided on easy dinners, no cooking to speak of because we wanted to enjoy each other rather then spend the day in the kitchen. So we got pizzas for Saturday night's dinner; all we needed to do was heat them. And for today, Sunday, we got a huge chicken pot pie and a Shepherd's pie, both pre made ready to heat.
Drew, our son in law, spent a couple of years at Southern Connecticut University in New Haven, so he took Hayden, his eighth grader off to show her that campus, Yale's campus, New Haven, and where he lived for a couple of years. The rest of us hung out, the girls playing upstairs, the adults sitting around talking, enjoying being together as a family again. It's fun to see how well the girl cousins get along, like bosom friends despite not seeing each other only two or three times a year.

Because of the weather, we stayed inside most of the afternoon, though I did venture out and take both dogs for a walk. It was a trip, trying to keep the leashes straight as Coco ran back and forth, making it difficult to keep them untangled. They loved the cold, however, being outside, but a half hour was enough. We decided to watch a movie or two in the afternoon, so we all piled into the sun room and watched
Meet The Parents, then
Ace Ventura, two movies that both adults and kids could enjoy. I had enough after
Meet The Parents, but the kids and Ramiro watched Ace Ventura.

We then heated up the pizzas, Evie made a salad, and she also heated up some meatballs and tomato sauce for subs for Mitch, who is off of wheat. I can't say the pizza was anything special other than filling as long as you had three pieces. After dinner, we decided to split up, the girls watching a movie they wanted,
Blended, and the adults a newer film,
Nightcrawler, which got good reviews but none of us liked. The main character was unsavory, unlikeable, a low life, not someone we grew like. The filming, the camera shots of LA, were the only things we liked in the film. We all went to bed by 10:00, even the girls, tired from watching films much of the day.
It does not look like we will be outside today either though we hoped to go sledding. It's really cold and windy.
