Enjoying A Night Out At Sunny Frankies In Stamford, CT |
We are beginning to get into a routine here with the Albarrans. We were all up early, Ramiro to take a flight to Chicago, and he left at 5:45 for the airport. Mitch, Marisa, Evie and I were all up at 6:00, Evie to get their breakfast and lunches ready, me to drive them to school at 7:00 because both wanted to get there early. And both kids get up on their own, have their alarms and don't need prodding to get up which is nice. It's now almost 8:00 and they are both in school. Evie and I are sitting here in am empty house, with no grandchildren around for the next seven hours. It seems strange to be in a quiet house.
Yesterday was not much different from what today will be. Everyone off to school or work by 8:00, with the rest of the day to fill for Evie and me. We did not do much around here, other than keep things organized, think about what we were going to do about dinner, and just enjoy the day. I did go out and shop here in town for some fruit and snacks for the kids which we needed. And for dinner, since Evie and I were taking Marisa to Irish Dancing in Stamford at 6:30, Evie got out the Slovenian sausages for the boys which were enough for their dinner.

The kids were home by 2:30 and because Marisa was going to Irish Dancing and new braces, Evie made her pancakes for her dinner around 5:30, tasty and not too filling for before a rigorous dance class. We drove her to Stamford and dropped her off at 6:45 for class. I had done some research on local restaurants in Stamford because we were going to wait an hour and fifteen minutes for Marisa's class to end. So I picked out a local place, which got rave reviews called Sunny Frankies, on Hope Street. And as it was as advertised, a local place with a packed bar full of what seemed to be regulars, with a small dining room, not quite half full. The menu was Italian, with all kinds of interesting specials, and lots of good beers on tap. I got the special BBQ burgers with Gorgonzola, onions, peppers and barbecue sauce, and Evie a chicken sandwich. My burger was the best I have had in a long time and Evie loved her sandwich, so it was a good choice. We will be back to try some of the Italian specialties.
Before picking up Marisa, we stopped at Dunkin Donuts, what else, donuts for dessert but there were slim pickings at 8:00, just leftovers, and some were already stale. But we bought some anyways, as this is what Marisa was looking forward to after dance. She came out in shorts, no coat, carrying everything, red faced and exhausted from dance, ready to get home and relax. We got home by 8:30, watched some of The Office with her before she went up to bed. Then the adults watched the second episode of
Better Call Saul before going up to bed because everyone wanted to be up early.
