Dawn |
Up again at 5:00 (I know this gets boring), to the sound of mostly martins, a somewhat threatening sky, and a lake slowly coming alive and alight. And another boring picture of dawn but what else is there to shoot out my door each morning. I have to get more original, I know. The lake is like glass, the shorelines hazy, like the sky above, and it's 73 outside, quite a change from yesterday.. Emailed Patsi, Linda Holz, and Beth already, as I plan my day. Evie's up early, too, around 6:00, ready to check out her latest Words With Friends game, a reason to get up!
Today, we get ready for our visit to the Albarrans, pack, visit the library, shop at bit, and then tonight, we are going out with Ron and Linda to Bemus, for a drink at the Lenhart Hotel if it's open, then dinner at the Seezhurn House, our usual.
We went kayaking early, around 7:15 but by the time we got out on the lake, it had clouded up and starting spiting down on us though it stopped quickly, so we were able to get a decent paddle in. We went down and looked more closely on Giarizzo's landslide and it's amazing. Three huge pines toppled, but they slid root first into the lake, taking with it lots of earth, so that it created a huge spill of dirt, mud, roots in the lake shore. And the cliff is now so steep, just dirt, that if there were a heavy rain, it would take even more dirt, perhaps more cliff into the lake. I have no idea how to go about shoring up the cliff so it does not happen again except, of course, if you have lots of money. But how do you bring in earth moving equipment on the lake front?
Kind of a lazy day, after going to the CI, hitting the library and bookstore, then home again home again, jiggety jig! We are packed, Evie's cutting the lawn, and I crawled under the house, through an inch of water in some places to open all the basement windows, to air it out so it dries. Fun job. It was 80 earlier today but now it's down to 77, still warm enough to go for a swim, I think. Got to keep up with Evie so I am not accused of being a wimp.
It's really breezy today, like a fall day actually, blue skies, few clouds, not too hot. Finally!
