8:55 |
It's 8:55 and the sun just peeked out, lighting up the lake and yard. I was up a bit later than usual, at 7:00, and was out for an hour kayaking, down to Bootey Bay and back. Interestingly, I chased three or four herons off their perches along the bay and photographed a couple before they took off.

Sunday was a strange day as we didn't do much, perhaps because we both had a busy Saturday. I was lucky to get in a long paddle on a sunny morning before the day clouded up. I finished the blog when I got home, then went out and checked on my boat to make sure the motor was still running. I had six or seven life jackets in a plastic bag, took them out to store on the ship and discovered an animal had gotten into the bag and eaten the insides of two of the life jackets. I let the motor idle for 10 minutes, then put the cover back on, sweeping up all the debris from the jackets. We needed a few things at the store so I drove off at 11:00, stopped for coffee, then hit Wegmans, Evans, the gas station, and Sherwin-Williams to pick up some paint for our benches and get a couple of old cans of paint mixed. I was shocked at the price of paint, probably double of what it was maybe ten years ago when we did some painting. Fortunately, it was a 40% off day, so a 35-dollar quart was only 23 bucks.
When I returned home, I was hungry and made myself a bowl of ramen and toast with peanut butter and jelly. After lunch and my series, I read and napped, no surprise, and wasted the rest of the afternoon, with a light rain as an excuse for not getting outside and accomplishing something.
Around 4:30, Evie prepped our dinner, roasted potatoes and cauliflower, and lamb chops. Before finishing dinner up, we enjoyed our wine, a Black Box special with only 80 calories, whatever that means. Anyways, it tasted like water blended with wine so I won't buy that again. Dinner was great as we each devoured three or four lamb chops, and I loved the cauliflower and potatoes, both flavored with lemon. We were not sure what to watch so we went back to a couple of episodes of The Resident, a series we have watched off and on over the past few months. Evie went to bed after the series, and I then watched the first three quarters of the Thunder's easy win over the Pacers, tying the series at one apiece.
