Another Hazy Morning

6:31

7:53

It's 8:17, and I was up at 6:20, and out on the lake for an hour, over to Long Point, back to Sandy Bottom, and home. Very few boats were out, although three fishermen were on the aluminum fishing dock off of Long Point. I also ran into a neighbor, Roman, for the first time, out for a paddle on this great morning.

Northern Calm

Great Blue Above The Reeds

Saturday was a productive day because we both accomplished a lot. It began with a long paddle on a calm lake, a nice contrast to Friday's wind and waves. It was great to relax and enjoy coffee without being in a hurry, as we had the entire day to get things done. By 10:30, I was wading into the still-cold lake, in my bathing suit, taking down the purple martin house. As I may have mentioned, the martins have abandoned the houses along Woodlawn, most likely because of predators. Once the gourds were down, I cleaned out a couple of sparrow nests and bagged them, and put them up in the attic. Once that was done, I spent the next hour trimming the rhododendrons and our privet as both were overgrown. Once they were trimmed, I raked up the leaves and filled another garbage pail. After that, I made two trips to the Transfer Station because we had so much trash from cleaning out both the garage and house attics. Finally, because I filled up three garbage pails with dead leaves, grass, and deadfall, I took them up the hill to the woodpile and then I was done for the morning.

Evie made me tuna sandwiches for lunch around 12:30, and I watched another episode of Blue Murder on Prime. And I am beginning to like it. My book,  Act One, by Moss Hart is going slowly, but I will stick with it. He just got his first play accepted, his seventh attempt, and he is collaborating with George F. Kaufmann. I briefly napped and watched the first set of the French Open, won in three sets by American Coco Gauff. We didn't do much until 4:00 when Evie decided to mow the yard. She did most of it and then I finished it up just in time for wine time. We sat on the front porch and watched the busy lake begin to calm down.

Dinner was the leftover Salisbury steak and a salad. We watched the final episode of Sirens and still are not sure what to think of it although we did stick with it. I never did get the allusions to the Sirens, from Homer's Odyssey. And if it's described as a comedy by some, we rarely laughed.
