Breakfast This Morning At 6:45 |
 |
6:32 |
It's 7:10 and I have been up for almost an hour, helping Aundraya with Rhys, a bundle of joy and energy early in the morning. I forgot about those early mornings with an energetic toddler. I am skipping kayak to spend a few hours with Rhys because all three families leave for home: Tom and Jill's families around 9:30 this morning, and Beth and Mitch later this afternoon. A sad day.

Yesterday was another beautiful day, with lots of sun and blue skies, accompanied by a cooling wind, and temperatures in the low 80s. I got in a short early paddle before returning to a group playtime with Rhys. Everybody takes a turn playing with him until he's ready for something or someone else. Again, everyone is on their own for breakfast, with options including bagels, eggs, bread, jam, or yogurt. Beth nicely asked if I wanted scrambled eggs, and I couldn't resist them. Yum. Once the girls woke and came down from Pine Hill, the four of us drove to Ryders Cup for a coffee. Despite being a Monday, it was packed and we waited in line for at least ten minutes. We then did a quick run through Wegmans, with two carts, and I sent the girls one way, and I went the other, and we were out in no time.

What A Big boy |
While we were gone, Tom, Nick, Aundraya, and Rhys went to pick blueberries at the blueberry farm on Carpenter Pringle Road, about a ten-minute drive. We have gone there many times over the years with the girls. When we returned from the store, Evie was simmering enough Slovenian sausages to feed a crowd. They are a family favorite, and it was a perfect lunch for their last day, With either mustard or lots of horseradish, they are the best, from Asman's Meat Market, in Euclid, Ohio. Most of the afternoon, everyone did their own thing, sunbathing on the dock or yard, napping, playing with Rhys, or just relaxing either in the yard, on the porch, or in the house, usually on a phone or device. At 5:00, four of us took a nice cruise over to Bemus, hugging the shore to avoid the heavy winds and choppy lake.

When we returned, we enjoyed various libations on the porch and Evie heated up some hanky pankies for an appetizer, a family favorite. Once Rhys went to bed for the night, around 6:45, Tom and I went out and grilled 15 teriyaki pork chops, again a Chautauqua tradition.

Talking To Grandson, Tyler, With Tom, Granny, Jill And Beth |
Because it cooled down, we decided to eat inside, alas, and feasted on the pork chops, corn on the cob, Caesar salad, broccoli, and rolls. We sat around the table after dinner playing some silly memory game, which was fun, led by Jill, of course. We didn't leave the table until 8;15. Earlier, Beth had made a pan of brownies so we had brownies for dessert with ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream as we sat in the living room, talking about our week and the wonderful weather, the best in years. Everyone was ready for bed by 9:30, so I turned off the lights around 9:45, locked the doors and went up to bed to read.
