An Unexpected Funday

A Dynamic? Duo

7:05

It's 8:40, the sun so bright that I had to move a couple of times in the living room to avoid the glare.  I am not complaining as it's a beautiful morning, blue skies, breezy, and 58º.  I paddled for 50 minutes, the usual, to Sandy Bottom, across to Long Point, and home to Woodlawn.

Heron On Woodlawn Dock

As the title suggests, Sunday was a fun day.  It started with a good paddle, then the blog and breakfast.  We knew we wanted to hike somewhere so we decided on a section of the Fred Cusimano trail which starts in Panama, about 20 minutes away. It was not the best of choices because it was muddy despite the blue skies and pleasant temperature.

An Autumn Hike In The Woods

Just as we were about to head back after a mile of muck, my niece's son called. He and his friends had been hiking and camping in Pennsylvania over the weekend and wondered if we wanted to meet them at Southern Tier Brewery for lunch. So we hiked back to the trailhead and drove to the brewery about 20 minutes away.  They were already there, sitting outside on a picnic table, enjoying a flight of Southern Tier's best.

Enjoying Beers With Connor And Friends

It was fun to hear about their camping adventures before ordering lunch.  Evie and I split a tasty pulled pork sandwich and a beer, as the yard became more and more crowded with people.  The gang wanted to go for a swim in our lake before driving back to Cleveland so we drove to Woodlawn and despite the breeze, cool weather, and cold lake, everyone went for a swim, refreshingly cold. They left about 2:00 in time to get home for the Browns game and it was fun getting to know the four of them.

Cold But Ready To Jump

We Did It!

Earlier in the morning, our friend Linda asked if we wanted to meet them at Three Taps on the Chautauqua Institution grounds for drinks, then have dinner at their house afterward. It sounded like a good idea so after a leisurely afternoon of watching some football and reading, we met them at 5:30 for drinks. It's a lovely spot, with chairs surrounding fire pits on the edge of the lake. I ordered a beer and a glass of wine and almost had a heart attack when they charged me twenty-two bucks.  Linda and Ron roared with laughter when they heard my lament.

An Enjoyable End To The Day

We left as it was getting dark and had a glass of wine before dinner, laughing again at my wine story.  We shared leftover dinners, Indian for Linda and Italian for Evie all were good and filling. We then watched the first half of the Bills/Chiefs game, had coconut ice cream for dessert, and drove home just after 10:00, when the first half ended.  Quite a surprising day at the lake.
