Chautauqua Lake: A Frothy Mix Of Ice And Water

7:55
Just finished listening to "Only A Game," so it must be 8:00.  The lake seems alive, changing in front of our eyes from water to icy waves.  It's 14º, as life here gets back to a winter weekend, sans enough snow to ski or snowmobile.

Frozen Cairn
Yesterday began early for me, with a snowy drive to Jamestown, for another follow up doctor's appointment for me.  I was out of the office by 8:30, healthy and happy, and ready for a good yoga class at 9:30 with Julie.  When I got home, I was met by a smiling and happy wife, the proud owner of a new washer/dryer combo.  It took the guys an hour and a half to get the old ones out, the new ones in.  According to Evie they were really nice guys, helpful and knowledgeable, and they stayed until they were sure everything was working perfectly.  It's nice to deal with local businesses.

Choppy Water, White Caps, And Cold
I had a tasty lunch of toasted cheese, with jam of course, and another bowl of lentil soup.  I never get tired of it.  And we watched the third episode of THE HONORABLE WOMAN, a series we are only starting to understand.  It's set in the Middle East, a very complicated area, like the series.  We then stayed warm and comfortable, as the wind howled outside, the temperatures dropped into the teens, and the lake looked like the ocean, with white caps and fog.

Evening Snow Fall
We decided to stay home because of the weather, the snow and winds, a good choice.  We had a nice cocktail hour, with a cheese spread and cashews.  We enjoyed the snow whirling outside our spotlight, as we listened to news, then music.  Dinner was easy, oven ready ribs from Trader Joes, leftover mashed potatoes, and a salad.  We watched the newest episode of the faux thriller DESIGNATED SURVIVOR, with Kiefer Sutherland.  We both wish he would stop whispering and just talk, distinctly, like a normal President.  I am reading another Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp thriller.  In this one, Matt is matching wits with the nasty Hamas/Hezbollah terrorists.  I think he will survive.
