Back To Reality

6:48
7:30
I slept in, sort of, getting up just before the sun rose at 6:50.  It was strange to be back in our home again, after a great get away to Folly Beach for five nights, then a stay with Jill and her family for four nights, the best part, enjoying our granddaughters.  I just checked the weather here at the lake and it looks amazing, seven straight days of sunshine and mild temperatures.  It looks like we returned at the perfect time.  No snow is forecast though we saw some on our return home yesterday.

We had our typical drive home from Jill's house in Bristow, VA, cloudy skies, rain on and off, little traffic and always around seven hours, no matter how many stops we make.  We were up early to see the girls off to school, in fact, I drove Halle and a friend to school at 7:30 so Jill could get a workout in at at the gym.  So we were on our way by 8:00, getting home just after 3:00.  The drive for some reason seemed quicker than usual although time wise, it was the same.  We could almost make the drive blindfolded as we have done it so many times.  And we have our stops down, first at Shawnee Springs Market, on the Frederick Pike, in Cross Junction, VA with a great market, store, and bakery just about forty five minutes from Jill's.  Then, at Gio's Barbecue in Woodland, Pennsylvania, just off of Interstate 80,  for a barbecued pork sandwich with cole slaw.  Then on through the Allegheny Forest, with a final stop in Sugar Grove, PA, just on the New York State Line, where we get a half gallon of Pot O Gold milk, the best.  And because we did not feel like fussing with dinner, we ordered a pizza to go, the Mushroom Man Special, from the Ashville General Store, our last stop, about 15 minutes from home.

It's always scary to walk into our house when we have been away, as we worry about a water leak or a problem like that but all was fine.  Hallelujah.  We quickly emptied the car and started putting away everything.  I like to get all my clothes put away while Evie tends to put her unpacking off till the next day.  Just getting the food stuff put away and the kitchen set up is often enough for her.

6:00, Late Afternoon
Around 5:30, we returned to our couch, for wine and cheese time, to enjoy the Chautauqua gray late afternoon, something we have not done in a couple of weeks.  It was good to sit down and relax, listen to the pundits once again, debate the worthiness of Donald Trump, his chances of getting the nomination.  And after Evie put together a salad, we had the pizza, our new favorite, as we began to catch up on some of our series.  We watched the last two episodes of BILLIONS, the ending setting us up for another season, no surprise there.  And we watched some politics, some American Idol, before going up to bed exhausted from our drive.  Our own bed felt sooo good after a couple of weeks in different beds.

And this morning it was nice to once again wake up to the lake.  Home again.
