Heading to Woodstock,VT, Then Cape Elizabeth, Oxford, And Southwest Harbor. All In Maine

Tuesday Morning, Not Today
Pitch black at 6:00 as both Evie and I are up, raring to go, as we begin our trip East, to visit friends, the spend four days hiking in Acadia National Park, before visiting family in Darien, CT.  The weather at the moment is not cooperating, as it's raining, and it looks like rain for our drive to Woodstock. It is cooling off some after yesterday's high in the 80's.

Yesterday was one of those days, like the previous where things go wrong or are just not easy.  It's hard to say why but what should take a few minutes took a half hour.  And I can hardly remember what we did. For example, I had a few calls to make but my phone did not work for some reason, still don't know why and will have to take it in to AT&T.  Most of the morning, then, we worked on getting the house ready for our departure and packing, always the difficult part, especially this time because we will be visiting friends and family but also hiking for four days.  What to bring when you are not sure of the weather?  I spent a good deal of time cleaning out my garage because I wanted to leave our second car in it.  So I had to work at finding places to put everything that usually sat in it and put it either in the house or attic.  This took the rest of the morning.

We continued in like fashion on and off during the afternoon, finally finishing we hoped with our preparations then both of us went outside and cut two lawns, ours and the Leonards.  It was extremely windy, lots of branches and twigs had fallen, so it took me 15 minutes to pick up all the dead fall from our tree.  And as we cut, the leaves would blow so hard, that it almost seemed as if we had not cut the yard or mulched the leaves.  And for the first time, we both noticed the limbs of our two front trees were beginning to bare their limbs, so we could see the sky from our porch for the first time since Spring.  After cutting the grass, we packed the car so we would be ready for bear in the morning and not have to worry about packing.

Neither of us felt like fussing with dinner after our day, so Evie fried some eggs, baked a couple of sweet potatoes and made a salad, and we had dinner.  We watched junk TV as we were caught up with all the series we like and went to bed around 10:00.
