Partly Cloudy, Mild, A Perfect Spring Morning (Hiking in Westfield)

7:30
Trout fishing in Chautauqua Creek

Organizing the Treasure Chest for Hayden and Halle!

Burgers at Pine Junction with Ken Scholtz and his nephews with a couple of assholes in the back.

Up late, around 7:40, to the aroma of onions and vegetables cooking on the stove, as Evie was up early making her vegetable soup.  It's 30 degrees outside, high in the low 40's, a  good day to walk or hike, depending on what we feel like doing.

For sure, Evie's  going to work out at the gym and I am going to my Yoga class, despite the nice weather.  Hopefully, we will take a walk as well and this evening, we are going to our neighbors, Jim and Barb Fox, for dinner which should be fun.

Yesterday, we went into Westfield, walked around the village, and found a way down to walk along Chautauqua Creek, which runs through the town, just west of the city center.  A couple of fishermen were out trying their lucky this early in the season, trout fishing I assume and when the sun was out, it was really quite pleasant.  It was an interesting walk, some neat houses set up above the creek, one with a long porch built off the side of the house, probably 12 feet by 40 feet, just screened in, but overlooking
the creek, great for entertaining in summer.  We did not go down to the creek bed as we were not sure of the right of way.  We circled back to where we began, the Patterson Library and came home.

Last night,  I got a call from my neighbor, Ken Scholtz, telling me that he and his son and nephews were coming up for the weekend, to ski, and wondered if I might want to go out to get a burger with them at Pine Junction.  I accepted of course, and we had a great meal though it was crowded, so we had to just stand around and drink beer for 15 minutes.  Two of the nephews played football, both quarterbacks, one at Penn State, the other at Cornell.  Their father is the AD for football at Penn State and has been for around ten years.  All three boys were good athletes and Ken's son Kenny Jr. played football at Bucknell as well.  So we spent a lot of time talking about football, sports in general, not too much about Penn State.  They are off to Holiday Valley early this morning and should have good skiing as their base is good and it's supposed to just get up to 40 later today.
