Fog And Sun Rising

I woke to light in the bedroom, as the morning fog from the past few days has dissipated. Right now, at 8:00, it's spectacular, with its reflection on the lake with a band of fog sliding along the lake's surface. I was out  for an hour on a spectacular lake day. Unfortunately, it was not the best of paddles because when I was taking my sunglasses off, which I wear along with my glasses, I also grabbed my glasses by mistake and they fell in the lake. I saved my ten-dollar sunglasses.  Idiot!

Saturday was a busy day, a good day. It started with an early cup of coffee, then a late paddle because of the fog. I didn't get out on the lake until after 9:00 just as I was able to see the shoreline. By the time I returned, it had lifted. When I returned, Evie had the trash ready so I was off to the Transfer Station and was home by 10:30. Evie wanted to get a few things done in the house and I wanted to bike so I was off to Mayville to ride the trails and roads. I rode out on a striking fall trail, trees on both sides, leaves on the trail. There are two sections, each a mile, so I turned around and noticed my bike seemed to be riding strange.  I finally stopped and realized my front tire was flat so I ended up walking it home a mile. Fun. I then stopped at the Lighthouse and bought a sub for our lunch. As usual, I watched my show and then started a new novel by Elizabeth Strout Tell Me Everything. In it, she revisits several characters from her earlier novels, like Olive Kitteridge, Bob Burgess, and Lucy Barton. I love it.

Around 3:00, Dan, our plumber stopped by to talk with us about getting house air conditioning, a split system that uses a heat pump. We are going to get a quote and then make a decision whether to go with it or not. Once he was gone, I mowed the front yard, covered with leaves with many leaves to go, alas.

For dinner, we decided to go to the Viking Club since we hadn't been there in quite a while. Saturday is a good night to go because it's not that crowded. We easily found a seat at the bar, our favorite spot. For dinner, Evie had the strip steak and I had a roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy, both tasty although a bit salty. We stayed until 8:00 and drove home in the dark as the days are getting shorter. We watched Real Time With Bill Maher and it was hilarious and informative, with guests Joe Scarborough, Mark Cuban, and David Hogg.
