Overcast And Tom's Family Heads Home

Aundraya, Rhys, And Nick

7:04

It's 7:40 on a 68º morning and Beth and I are the only one's up. The lake is calm, the sky and lake both gray as we sit here, waiting for Rhys to wake so we can hold him, and get in our baby fix.  It's 8:50 and I was out paddling for 35 minutes and had the good luck to shoot two different herons, sitting on neighbors' docks, fishing for breakfast. At the moment, Evie and Beth are the only ones up so it has been a quiet morning

Heron Fishing

Yesterday was a bit of a blur because we mostly hung out, deciding to have a leisurely day at the lake. It began on a sad note because all four of Jill's family left for home around 10:00. After all, the girls had to return to their jobs.

Goodbye Jill, Drew, and Girls

We then did a quick clean-up of the house and I drove off to Wegman's to get some goodies, stopped to fill up my car, and got another bag of ice for our cooler. We go through a couple of big bags a day. I was home by noon and the gang was either on the dock, porch, or in the living room as as the day warmed up into the 80s. While I was gone Evie was busy making a macaroni salad, a tun salad, and snickerdoodles for lunch and snacks. The snickerdoodles of course were the hit.

Since Tom's family leaves this afternoon, we brought in the float, let it dry for an hour and rolled it up and put it in the garage for another season. Unfortunately, Mitch and Milena had to leave for LA around 3:00 so we had an Uber pick them up, saving us a trip to the airport.

Late Afternoon

Watching Bean Bag

Most Of The Gang

Most of the afternoon was similar to the morning, sunbathing on the dock, swimming or hanging out on the porch. Evie and Nick played some bocce and we had bean bag tournaments around 4:30. Earlier in the afternoon, Tommy drove to the Lighthouse to pick up 5 pounds of Delmonico steak, cut in quarter-inch slices for our teriyaki marinade which Evie had made. It's our favorite meal, a remnant of our three years when we living in Honolulu. Around 7:00, after the games, Tom and I grilled the steak, Evie made a salad and rice, and we had a delicious dinner, making any Hawaiian proud. The steaks are grilled for only a couple of minutes because they are so thin and we want them medium rare.

A Happy Boy

The gals cleaned up the kitchen, leaving Evie to enjoy Rhys and once they were done, we sat on the front porch until it got dark. The girls then played Telefunky while the rest of us read and played on our phones until 10:30 when most went up to bed, tired from the day.
