Just The Two Of Us

Beth And Marisa Fly Back To Dallas

7:30

A sunny and cool morning, with a light wind and a chilly 57º. It's perfect weather and the irony is that the kids left yesterday and none are here to enjoy it. It's strange to wake to an empty and quiet house after 10 days of family and it will be hard to get used to for a couple of days. It's 9:30 and I paddled for forty minutes, shooting four different ospreys and a heron. It was a beautiful morning to be on the lake.

Yesterday was another day of waiting, for Beth and Marisa to leave for the airport early afternoon. I was up early and went to breakfast in Bemus and was home by 9:10. Beth and Marisa were up and having breakfast and their coffee. While Beth and Marisa finished packing up, Evie and I started organizing the yard and house. None of us had much to do except try to figure out lunch. We decided on driving to the Ashville Country Store which Marisa loves, order our lunches, and bring them back to the house to enjoy. So we ordered and sat around browsing the store for 15 minutes until our lunches were ready and drove home. We ate on the front porch, enjoying the coolness of a July afternoon, so rare lately.

Beth did not want me driving her to the airport so she ordered an Uber and he arrived at 2:30. She texted me around 5:00 to say it was a good thing I didn't drive because traffic was backed up on Interstate 90 and it took an extra half hour or more to get to the airport. After they left, I napped briefly then came downstairs to read while Evie was mulching the lawn with her new Ryobi electric push lawn mower. She did it in sections and took time off to watch some TV. So I mulched for about 15 minutes just to see how the lawn mower worked. It cuts nicely and is easy to use.

We ended the afternoon on the porch, enjoying the view and a glass or two of wine. We didn't get to dinner until 7:30 when Evie made a salad, heated up a piece of pizza and I heated up the leftover teriyaki steak and rice from Tuesday night's dinner. We watched a few minutes of the rally and switched two episodes of Presumed Innocent on Apple TV+ before going to bed early.
