Hazy, Drizzle, And Cool

Marisa And Beth Arrive In Buffalo

6:52

9:08

It's a gray morning with intermittent drizzle and a cool 63º. It looks like today we will have a respite from the heat and tomorrow it gets back to the 80's alas. Right now, I just returned from breakfast in Bemus and the house is alive with my daughter Beth and her daughter Marisa. And later today, Tom and Jill's family will arrive, the start of a full and fun week.

Yesterday was another busy day of prepping for our family although most of it was done. I did not get in a paddle because Evie had an actual doctor's appointment in Jamestown at 9:45 and we had a few things to get done before she left. I left around 10:15 picked up a basket of peaches from Peterson's Farm and stopped at Steeners to make sure all was clear for our catered dinner on Saturday. We got home at the same time, around 11:30, and were both ready to take it easy. Lunch was a chicken salad and I watched my show.

I was leaving for the Buffalo airport around 3:15 so I took a short nap, read some, showered, and was on my way a bit earlier because of thunderstorms and tornado reports. I ran into torrential rain for about 15 minutes but then cleared up and was easygoing. The tornado, by the way, was earlier in the afternoon and did quite a bit of damage in the towns of Arkwright and Hanover. Beth and Marisa's flights from Dallas arrived on time at 5:00. We were on our way home by 5:30 and had an easy hour-and-a-half drive back to the lake.

Once More To The Lake

7:43 PM

We enjoyed appetizers and a glass of wine on the porch since it cooled off quite a bit and it was fun to have them both at the lake. It's been almost a year since we got together. Dinner was a homemade bean and tomato soup and quesadillas and it was still comfortable to enjoy dinner on the porch. We sat around talking until 9:30 when all four of us were tired from our day and went up to bed.
