Not Much Of A Day

Road Trip

Here I am again, in a Hampton Inn in Grove City, Ohio, the only one enjoying a cup of coffee in their breakfast room. We have an eight-hour drive ahead of us to Birmingham, AL, but should be in no hurry to get to Orange Beach tomorrow because three days of rain a predicted! Yep, 80% chance.

The Sky

Yesterday was a good start to our trip because we had all morning to relax and finalize both what we are taking and making sure the house was left in good order. So I got in a paddle and breakfast and once we finished the blog, we got busy. I gathered the trash and went off to the Transfer Station, as usual, and Evie packed and cleaned up the kitchen. Since we planned on leaving at noon, we had lots of time to get things done, the car packed and ready.

The Road

After an hour's drive, we stopped just in Ohio at a Burger King, sat inside and ordered a Whopper meal, and shared it. Bad idea but it tasted good. We then drove to the south of Columbus, on #71 once we got to the Cleveland area and stopped only twice at rest stops to change drivers. It was not sunny yet the clouds were spectacular as we drove. The roads were busy but not overly so until we got to Columbus when things slowed down because of an accident.  We arrived at a very busy intersection off #71 at our Hampton Inn by 4:30.

Buckeye Fever At The Texas Roadhouse

We relaxed in our hotel room until 6:00 when we drove literally across the street to gas up the car and park next to a busy Texas Roadhouse. There was a line waiting to get seated but we were able to find two seats at the bar. The place was packed with Ohio State fans, waiting for the game to come on at 7:30. I ordered a ribs/fries appetizer and Evie a steak salad and both were good. We sat around until 8:00 and struck up a conversation with a nice couple who live a mile from the restaurant. We were back in our room by 8:15 and turned off the lights by 9:45, tired from our drive.
