Just The Two Of Us

Heading Home

6:35

It's a quiet morning and unlike the past week, it's going to be a quiet day as the last of our kids left for home yesterday afternoon. It's a partly cloudy morning, 65ยบ, and we did get a bit of rain overnight, just enough to measure in my rain gauge. I was up at 6:30, and it's now 7:00, so I will be out on the lake in a few minutes. It's 8:10 as I finish the blog after a good, half-hour paddle down to Sandy Bottom and back.

Yesterday was a day of waiting, which is not much fun. Because Beth and Tyler were leaving for the airport at 2:30, none of us did much during the morning or early afternoon except pack, for the two of them, clean up some for Evie and I, and keep looking at our watches. I did get in a paddle for forty minutes, then came home and Beth and I talked for a good half hour before Tyler got up. Once Evie was up, she got busy in the kitchen and made a pot of corn chowder, knowing it was something Tyler would like before heading off to the airport. We also went over to our neighbors, to gather a few things Joyce left behind on Tuesday and clean out the refrigerator before the new family moved in.  After lunch, I tried to nap after lunch to no avail.

By 2:30, the car was packed and we were on our way to the airport for the second time in two days. It's an easy hour-and-a-half drive and we dropped them off at 4:00. Their flight was on time and they were home by 8:00, Dallas time. And that ended a fun week with our family.

On the way home, we stopped at the Seneca Indian reservation in Irving for gas and we bought some highly recommended gummies, for difficulty sleeping or pain. These particular gummies were recommended by Evie's hairdresser, Jaret, so they must be good, right!

We didn't get home until 6:00 and quickly relaxed on the front porch with wine and some cheese and crackers, tired from our three-hour drive and week of fun. Neither of us was very hungry so Evie fried up a couple of eggs, made toast and we watched a couple of episodes of The Americans. It did not take us long to get back in the evening routine.
