Aloha Tuesday

Jill, Drew And Halle

Tom's Family

Beth's Family

6:10

It's 6:50 as  I start this and everyone is sleeping still, I was up at 6:00 and since both Tommy and Jill's families are leaving this morning, I am not sure whether to get in a paddle or not. It looks like another stellar day on the lake, high in the 80s although either Beth or I  will be taking Mitch and Milena to the airport around 1:00. And then there will be two, for one last night. It's now 8:00 and I did get in some kayaking for a half hour. Only four of us are up so it looks like Drew and Jill will not be leaving at 8:00 as hoped, perhaps 9:00 or 10:00.

Kayak Morning

Yesterday was a jumble in my head, the only clear thing was a kayak paddle for forty minutes in the morning before anyone else got up. By 10:00, I would guess, everyone was up making their own breakfast, whether cereal, yogurt and granola, bagels, or eggs. Some started at 9:00, and others were eating around 10:30 as no one was in any hurry, luxuriating in the large leisure of our morning.

Relaxing In The Yard

Lunch was similar, either the leftover koftes with tzatziki sauce which Evie put together, or Slovenia sausages, leftover from yesterday. Both Nick and Audraya spent a good part of the day working from the lake, the rest enjoyed the dock or the yard and had little interest in going somewhere other than just hanging out with each other on the lake.

Noon was a sad time because Marisa was flying home to Dallas and had left early afternoon, to fanfare and hoots and sighs.

Later,  seven of us drove over to Bemus, did some shopping at Skillman's, then sat around outside and had beers at the Ellicottville Brewery. It was pleasant, sitting in the shade, talking about our fun days, rueing the fact that both families were leaving on Tuesday morning.

When we returned, all fourteen of us gathered on the front porch, enjoying another exotic libation like tequila, squirt, and grapefruit soda. It was fun to stuff everyone out there, rather than sitting in the yard and playing bean bag. Two tournaments were enough I guess.

The Girls
Dinner was easy; Evie put 24 ears of corn in the oven, cut up tomatoes and onions, and got out the condiments, while Drew and I grilled juicy lucys, a burger with cheese in the middle, and hot dogs, Dinner was just what we wanted and to top it off, Evie made another buttermilk cake to finish off dinner.

Dinner

After dinner, the guys helped move the picnic table back to the pines, then ten of us went for a cruise down the lake to the Viking Club, across to the Chautauqua Institute, and home on a lovely, calm evening as the sun set behind the shoreline. We were home just about 9:00, too late to help clean up alas. The kids then adjourned to the TV room to watch another horror film and the adults tried to stay up but all of us were up in bed by 10:00 except me.
