Another Morning Of Sunshine

I was up early, at 6:30, in time to see the sunrise at 6:54 on a hazy 42º morning. Lots of ducks are floating by and quacking, as they start their day. I got in a forty-five-minute paddle before yoga, kayaking over to Long Point, back to Sandy Bottom, and home along Victoria and Woodlawn.

Monday was a good way to start the week, lots of sun, still crisp out and we had fun. First, I paddled for over an hour, down to Whitney Bay, and photographed a couple of ospreys, the first of the year. We then had a leisurely coffee but knew we wanted to get for a walk. Evie would be ready about 11:00 so I decided to get something done and washed the front windows for the first time this year and they needed it. After I finished, we drove to the Chautauqua Institution and took a good forty-five-minute walk around a busy place. It seemed every street had some kind of construction going on, either adding or building a new structure. It was a fine morning for a walk and the CI was a good choice, as always although few trees or bushes have begun to bloom.

Lunch was a wrap with hummus and veggies and I watched my show. I had to be in Jamestown by 1:50 for a doctor's appointment so I skipped a nap and was off by 1:30. Afterward, I stopped at both Wegman's and Evans for a few things for last night's dinner and filled up my Kia for the first time in a couple of weeks. We try to charge it every other night to keep the battery up to 100%. We were having friends, Barb and Jim, over the d dinner so when I returned, Evie had just about everything prepped so we both could relax and take it easy the rest of the afternoon.

A Spring Dinner

Barb and Jim arrived at 6:00 and we enjoyed wine time with them catching up on their lives. Barb is recovering from knee surgery and is doing well. We were hungry so by 7:00, we were enjoying Evie's battered air-fried eggplant slices with homemade tomato sauce, as good as any that Rocco's had to offer. We also had a salad and baguette, quite a feast. We enjoyed a mousse for dessert, a combination of bananas, avocados, and cocoa sweetened with maple syrup and topped with raspberries. Yum. They left around 8:30 and we had our usual night of TV, watching Colbert and Jeopardy and some HGTV.
