Trumpeter Swan With Huddled Mergansers |

It's 8:20 and surprise, I slept in and Evie didn't so when I came downstairs, she was already enjoying her coffee on a new Keurig machine, compliments of Keurig and our son Tom. Yesterday's blue skies and snow has begun to melt, alas, as it's 38ยบ and will get warmer. Hundreds of seagulls are perched on the ice in front of our house and I have never seen so many. And over at the tip of Long Point, gangs of swans also are milling around, looking for something to eat. It looks no kayaking, no hiking today.

Swans A Swimming At Long Point |
Saturday morning was semi-busy, as we had our coffee, wrote the blog, and then gathered all the trash for me to take to the Transfer Station. We also took down the Christmas tree on our porch, a gave the living room a good cleaning and it needed it. I was off to the Transfer Station by 11:00, a quick run, and came straight home. It was a spectacular late morning, so I made myself hike the woods although I would rather of staying in the house, a lazy boy. It was worth it though, the sun, the blue skies, the brilliant white of the snow and the woods. It was almost 1:00 when I returned and Evie made me a quesadilla to go along with the cauliflower soup.

After lunch, Evie put together a Peruvian marinade for a couple of chicken breasts and I read some, napped as usual, and then, by 4:30, we were both ready to watch the KC/Denver NFL game, with occasional glimpses of the Kansas/Texas Tech basketball game. KC ended up winning, making my son happy, Kansas losing, making him unhappy.

Around 5:30, Evie roasted the chicken, potatoes, and Brussel sprouts, and made a salad and we were happy, enjoying dinner as the KC game ended in a win. We then watched a new film on Netflix with Ben Affleck called The Tender Bar, about a young boy growing up in a dysfunctional family, with Ben Affleck playing his Uncle. It was decent, not great and we both gave it a generous C+. That was it for the night and we went up to bed.
Interestingly, Evie received a call from the State Health Department about seven days ago, asking about her symptoms after she had reported she had Covid. Then, yesterday the local Health Department called, asking the same thing and telling her that as of Sunday (today), she was released from isolation because it had been 10 days. Impressive.
