It's an overcast morning sky, 56º, and I was out kayaking for over an hour, to Tom's Point and back and caught both a heron and bald eagle in my lens although neither are great shots because of the lack of sunlight.

Yesterday was a different Memorial Day in that for most of the day it was just Evie and me, with Evie prepping our dinner much of the morning and me helping out in the kitchen with the cleanup. It was too windy to be out on the dock and enjoy the sun so we stayed inside and got some things done. I was feeling a bit uncomfortable, so I skipped lunch and napped. Around 2:30, our financial advisor stopped over and we talked with her for an hour. Things seem good as long as the economy keeps perking.
Evie had everything done by noon so she could relax much of the afternoon. We both showered late afternoon and Linda and Ron arrived around 6:00. We enjoyed German pretzels and a beer cheese Evie made on our porch with German lagers. It was a nice night to sit on the porch as long as you had a sweater or fleece. Around 7:00, I grilled lamburgers and that was our dinner, along with coleslaw and eggplant sandwiches, a bit different from the usual burgers and dogs. For dessert, Evie made a delicious strawberry galette, topped with a scoop of ice cream, a fitting ending to our Memorial Day.
They left about 9:30 and we did up some of the dishes until we had enough and went to bed happy but tired from our day.
