21º In The Morning

6:39

7:25

Like yesterday, there's not a cloud in the sky, bright sun and it's cold, cold, cold.  I thought about a paddle, wondering if it will be too cold.  Well, it wasn't bad out there, as only my hands were cold.  I was fortunate to find a couple of pairs of wood ducks, hanging out along the shoreline and mistook an icicle for a duck until I paddled closer.

Wood Ducks

Yesterday, a Friday, was cold but Spring-like.  We took our time waking, deciding what to do with our day like most days.  We decided about dinner, that we would go to the Rod and Gun for a fish fry.  So once we settled on that, we forced ourselves to think about a walk and ended up deciding that maybe we might enjoy a walk through the woods of Long Point despite the cold and wind.

Around 11:00, we gathered up our mojo and drove off to Long Point.  We were surprised at how cold it was, especially when we were in the open, not protected from the wind. We walked the woods for forty minutes, rueing our decision to go for a walk.  Despite it being sunny with blue skies, we just wanted to get our walk over with.

Spring Time At Long Point

When we returned home, it was lunchtime.  Evie suggested tuna sandwiches to go with a bowl of soup and soon, I was happy, watching the last episode of my series, Wisting, enjoying soup and a sandwich.  After lunch, neither of us did much, more or less waiting for time to shower and get ready for dinner out.  I read, of course, and am liking my C, J, Box novel, then napped, then showered and got spiffed up for dining out.

Evie recently has become a big fan of the Rod And Gun fish fry and likes to go out for one on Friday nights. We decided to stop at Aldi's and pick up a few things for our dinners the next couple of days and it was a good choice as the store was practically empty, with no check-out line to speak of.  I then deposited a check at Key Bank, got some cash at the ATM, so Evie would have gambling money when we sat at the Rod And Gun bar.  We easily found a parking spot but the bar was full so we stood around for a few minutes until seats opened up.   We ordered a beer and Evie gambled briefly before saying she was not feeling lucky.  We sat at the bar, finishing our beer, and then were called to our table.  Both the bar and the dining room were busy like previous weeks.  We had the same waitress as last Friday and ordered the fish fry.  We were served up within ten minutes, no waiting, and our fish fries were good.

We were home just as it was getting dark and were happy to change clothes and get cozy in our TV room. We watched a couple episodes of our series, Shtisel, and some of the women's semi-final game between UCONN and Arizona before going up to bed.  UCONN Lost.
