Saturday Night At The Movies

7:16

9:15

It's 8:36 on another bright, sunny morning here at the lake.  A few boats are out,  silhouettes on the sun's reflection on the lake.  It's a bit cooler this morning, 60º, while the West heats up, temps a scary 100º+.

Heliopsis (in sunflower family)

Yesterday was a bore for me, unable to kayak or do much other than sit around.  In contrast, Evie spent the day in the yard while I sat on my okole watching her.  After my blog and breakfast, I did get in a walk through our woods again, this time for close to forty-five minutes.  I felt righteous for a while until I witnessed Evie, watering, then weeding, then mowing the lawn, taking the trash to the Transfer Station and making dinner while I napped, a slug on a couch much of the day.

Coneflowers And Phlox

For lunch, I enjoyed the leftover pizza and finished my series, Hinterland, and the final episode was a perfect ending, as the officious, arrogant chief goes down.  I did not love the series but stuck with three seasons so I must have liked it.  After a nap, I watched some of the NBA playoff game, then joined Evie who was finally relaxing out on the dock on a windy afternoon.  Around 5:30, we came in and Evie warmed up the chicken piccata which she put together earlier in the afternoon,. We had it with rice and cauliflower and watched Real Time With Bill Maher.

Our Neighbor, Betsy, And Skeeter

We then relaxed until 7:45 when we walked over two doors, to Joe and Betsy's, where fifteen neighbors were gathering to watch a movie on their lakeside lawn.  It was a beautiful night to sit outside, enjoy popcorn, milk duds, good and plentys, and rasinettes as we watched a Walter Matthau and Elaine May film from 1971 called New Leaf, a light comedy.  Joe put up a 6' X 12' screen and streamed the film through his iPhone.  What a great way to spend a Saturday night with neighborhood friends.  After the film, we had Betsy's blueberry angel food cake with whipped cream, yum, kibitzed with the neighbors until 11;30 when we went home, tired but happy with our day.
