A Pink, Now Gray Calm

7:06

7:51
It's 7:40 and we are both up, drinking our coffee, on our devices, listening to NPR.  Today is a big day as we get our new carpet installed.  Supposedly, they will move all the furniture; we just have clear out anything that is breakable.  Let's hope it goes well and they can get it done in a day.

Yesterday was cold but sunny, with bright blue skies.  I got in a long paddle to Whitney Bay, the way I like to start my day.  We both enjoyed reading an article in our local paper called "Mother Nature Is a Mental Health Professional, suggesting that a hike in the forest is good for one's health, both mental and physical.

Chokeberry Bushes Among The Wetlands
We agreed so we decided to drive to our local Audubon Community Nature Center, about thirty minutes away, and walk their woods, something we usually do a couple times a year.  It was a good decision because we were practically the only ones there.  We were out for over an hour, loving the shady section of pine trees, the path covered with pine needles.  It was chilly but warm enough since we kept a steady pace except to take photographs.  On the way home, we stopped at Wegman's joining the other after church shoppers.  Evie had an extensive list so we easily filled our cart.

We didn't get home until 1:30 and we were both hungry.  So once we put away the groceries, Evie fried up a couple of eggs and toasted a bagel.  We watched CBS Sunday Morning, especially enjoying the interview with John le Carre, the novelist.  That was it for the day as far as enjoying nature was concerned. We relaxed either with a book or in front of the TV for the rest of the afternoon until wine time.  We relaxed with a couple of glasses of wine and Evie's favorite, Utz chips, and dip, nothing better for an appetizer except for Evie's homemade chips.  Earlier, Evie had put together a meatloaf so once that was through baking in the oven, along with some red potatoes, we had a hardy and tasty Sunday night dinner.  We watched Real Time With Bill Maher, then a couple of Colbert's before bed.  Our TV routine rarely changes, always a Colbert and Maher on weekends for a good laugh.
