Back To Normal, Alas

Evie's Garden

6:39

6:53
It's a partly cloudy morning, the sun finally showing its face now, at 7:05.  It's 61º and we can expect some sun, mostly cloudy during the day with rain late. A few fishing boats were out early but now all is quiet on the Woodlawn front. This morning I paddled over to Lont Point, to the reeds and home, listening to the sounds of silence, no earphones, no music.

Kayak Morning
Blending Into The Reeds
Yesterday, Sunday, was mostly what it should be, a day of rest.  I started my day as usual with a paddle over to Tom's Point and home.  We then had a long coffee, enjoying the morning on our front porch before doing a few things in the kitchen.  While Evie puttered in the garden, I decided to go for a bike ride since it was still cool, in the low 70's.  I hooked up my bike rack, attached my bike and drove over to Bemus, parked and rode off to Long Point State Park, along Lakeside Drive.

Black Locust Trail
It was a perfect day for a ride and I met a number of riders as I pedaled through the park, out to Long Point and back.  I stopped briefly in Bemus and walked around an art and crafts show.  They are getting old, the same old things, not much that is of interest.  I must admit to not wanting much anymore, especially something to hang because we have so many hangings, kilims, and framed posters just sitting in our attic with no place to hang them.

Bemus Arts And Crafts Show
I was home around 1:00, in time for Evie to make a menemen, a Turkish omelet with tomatoes, feta cheese, and Aleppo pepper.  With a bagel, I was a happy biker.  And that was it for the day other than
trotting in and out to the dock, to get some sun, or come in for some water.  It was a pleasant afternoon on the dock, at times hot enough to jump in the water, at other times, cool enough for a fleece.  We both went for a swim at 5:00, then came in an enjoyed a glass of wine on the porch after Evie had done some prepping for our dinner of scallops, linguini, and a creamy lemon sauce.

Double Daze
We ate around 6:30 and dinner, salad, and roll were perfection.  Evie had this dinner down so that she lets the linguini, scallops and sauce marinade after cooking for a few minutes so that everything absorbs the flavors of the sauce.  We started catching up on some of the shows we have missed for a couple of weeks.  So we watched two episodes of Divorce on HBO and they were boring and uninteresting, as the writers strive to match the first season.  We then were riveted to the TV as we watched two more episodes of The Loudest Voice on Showtime.  It chronicles the fall of Fox News creator, Roger Ailes, a disgusting bigot, sexual predator, and enabler of the Trump presidency if you can believe the series, as he used Fox News to support Trump's rise.  Whether it's true or fake news, it's riveting TV and we cannot wait for the next episode.
