A Jiffy Lube Graduation

Hayden And Halle, Happy  Sisters
A Proud Mom

It's another early morning for me, up at 5:30 although I missed Drew who left for work by 5:15 to avoid traffic.  It's warming up, 58º, and clouding up although we should have little trouble driving back to the lake today.

Yesterday was a good day, crowned by a pleasant and fast-moving graduation.  The day seemed long, at least the morning did because I was the first one up at 5:30 especially when others don't get up until 8:30 or later.  I got the blog done, read some, listening to the local news with Drew until the girls started their day. Evie and I  had plans, however, for the morning which was to visit this amazing nursery called Merrifield.  It has everything one could want for a garden or a lawn and we wanted.  We bought a couple of plants, some seeds, but mostly just enjoyed looking at all the perennials and garden stuff.  The best part, however, is they have a popcorn machine so we munched our way through a couple of bags while we browsed.

Our Cum Laude Granddaughter
Just as we drove home, Jill called, wondering where we were because we were going out to lunch at Firebirds  It's only ten minutes away and a place we have always enjoyed.  We were able to sit outside, were waited on immediately and had perfect lunches, mostly salads and soups, some with seafood, others with chicken.  It was a nice way to start the afternoon before Evie and Jill helped Hayden get dressed for graduation.  Around 4:00, she left for the venue, the Jiffy Lube outdoor amphitheater.  We didn't' leave till 5:00 and sat around enjoying a glass of wine and appetizers, hoping the affair was not too hot nor too long.

Traffic was terrible going over to Jiffy Lube but because Jill and Drew often go to concerts there, we were able to park on the lawn outside the venue, making it easy to leave.  We had a half hour walk and wait to get in but found seats in a cool area, under the pavilion.  Speeches took about an hour, the procession of graduates about another hour so all told, it was just over two hours.  It was hard to see because we were so far back but they had two huge screens so most of us watched on the screens.  We met Hayden briefly after graduation, took some photographs.  And because of where we parked, we were home in less than 20 minutes, missing all the traffic from the parking lots.

Proud Grandparents
We were home just before 9:00 and were settled on the porch, enjoying a glass of wine or a beer as Evie's stuffed shells were heating up, our only meal since lunch.  We sat around a table out on the porch, devouring the shells and garlic bread as we were all hungrier than we thought.  About 10:00, Drew's mom headed home and the rest of us, tired from the day, decided to go to bed around 10:30, the end to a good day.
