Early Rising

What Do You Want?

6:04

6:06
Up at 5:30, to a comfortable 60º morning, a mottled sunrise, and sounds of screeching seagulls. There's a slight breeze, and I am enjoying the silence (no Sonos), no mention of Himself because He is all the pundits talk about these mornings, afternoons, and evenings.  It's just after 8:00, Evie's up and Barb and I returned from a fine paddle and we were able to photograph a great blue heron, standing on the fishing dock as well as along the reeds.  Cool beans.

In The Grasses

Fishing
Turkey Vulture's Hanging
Yesterday we were pleasantly nudged out of our usual routine because our good friend, a Jamestown native, spent much of the day and night with us.  So we had our typical morning, a paddle, writing the blog, straitening up the house, until 10:00 when Barb arrived.  And best of all, she came bearing donuts from George's, and an assortment of items for the Treasure Chest, helping to replenish it for grandkids and kids of all ages.  We caught up on all the gossip from Hudson and Reserve before heading to the dock until lunch.  It was surprisingly overcast during the morning so sitting out there was not as warm as usual.

Kayaking With Neighbors
After a lunch of vegetable soup and Italian bread, Barb described the six week hiatus at a cabin just outside of Jackson Hole with her husband, Mike, their second year staying there.  It sounded amazing, a stone's throw from Yellowstone and Jackson Hole.  And ever the intrepid traveler, Barb, and a girlfriend took a seven-day rafting trip down the Colorado River in April.  We both were envious, wondering why we stayed put at the lake most of the winter and spring.  Well,  we know why...it's because we love it here.

Around 3:30, we split up because Evie was getting one of her two tests done at WCA in Jamestown.  It took us about an hour and a half, getting there and waiting to get the CT scan done.  Barb visited some of her old haunts from when she lived in Jamestown and we met at Brazil's Craft Beer And Wine Lounge at 5:30, enjoying a couple of Fat Tire brews, munching on pretzels.

Taco Hut With Barb
We then walked to Taco Hut, the only Mexican restaurant in Jamestown, one of our favorites.  Both Evie and I ordered the portobello pizza and Barb had the fish tacos, both quite good.   We then drove home, put our things away and quickly jumped in the boat, for a sunset cruise down towards the Chautauqua Institution.  It was a pleasant night to be on the lake, a bit chilly actually, but Evie brought along blankets, and we watched the sun set slowly below the lake's edge.
Setting Sun At 8:40
We were back by 9:30, talked and relaxed with our devices until about 10:00 when we all decided it was time for bed since we all get up early.

I forgot to mention the World Cup as my favortie since their first match, France, is in the finals.  I only was able to watch the first half yesterday but will watch the rest of the game today, even though I know France won.
