It's 7:30 and I am back in the saddle again, listening to Morning Joe bemoan Spanky's latest tweets, this time about vans of illegals crossing the border. I hardly listen as it's more like elevator music as I read the New York Times and other 'fake news' websites. It's a chilly 26Âș, no rain forecast until tomorrow and the lake is still frozen, even the edges. The sun rose early at 7:00, then hid behind the clouds and now has reappeared at 7:42, climbing above the cloud bank, filling the lake once again with its light.
Our Sunday was quiet, not family, but a great Easter dinner with our friends, Linda and Ron. We enjoyed a long morning coffee, unwilling to rise from our coffee, the view, our devices, and our comfortable couch. We did, finally, and thought about doing something. Evie decided to work on some photos and I decided to go for a walk around the Chautauqua Institution. It was surprisingly cold on my walk, nary an inhabitant in sight although I assume Hurlburt Church was full. It felt good to be outside and when I got home, the sun came out, warming me enough that I thought of getting out a lawn chair for Evie to come out and enjoy the brief warmth of the sun.

Blue Skies On Easter |
We had another good breakfast, this time, the last of our bread, toasted, along with a Turkish omelet or menemen. It was a good way to end the morning, along with watching CBS Sunday morning. The rest of the afternoon we listened on and off to the morning news programs on either CSPAN or POTUS. They replay them for their audiences. I was at a loss as to what to read, so I downloaded a couple of books from the library but stuck with a Jussi Adler Olsen novel, THE SCARRED WOMAN, set in Denmark, with Inspector Carl Morck.

Bearing Wrapping Paper |
We left for Linda and Ron's at 5:30, bearing gifts, wine, beer, and a painted rock, not necessarily Easter like but appropriate. For some reason, we ended up sitting in the kitchen, drinking our beers, keeping Linda company as she prepped dinner, served a soup appetizer.

Easter Table |
We adjourned to the dinner table for a great stuffed lamb dinner, with a beet, lettuce, and goat cheese salad, a potato galette and asparagus. We were happy. We ended the night in the living room a fire roaring, with a dessert of a chocolate mousse, topped with whipped cream.
We drove home around 10:00, on an empty RT. 394, and settled in our TV room for a bit before going up to bed, fat and happy from a great night with friends.
