Dinner And Sleepover For Nine

Nine Is Enough

7:39
Well, I am the first one up, no surprise I guess but the surprise is we have a full house, nine total, as my sister Linda's family spent the night after a volleyball game yesterday afternoon in Erie.  It's 7:15, and I have been up for close to an hour and I can hear some stirring upstairs.

Sunday Morning Coffee With The Grandkids (and Kevin)
Saturday was not our typical Saturday, mostly because we were having seven for dinner and an overnight.  We were busy getting things ready, the bedrooms, and dinner.  Evie had done lots before yesterday but there's always more to do, like bake the Foccacia and the chicken, getting both done before we left for the volleyball game at 4:30.  I, of course, dropped the trash off at the Transfer Station after a few chores and then watched some basketball and took a nap.

We were looking forward to seeing the family and the game, as our nephew is the captain of the Keuka College team.  They were playing Wittenberg at the Penn State Behrend Collge campus, about a forty minute drive, in sleet and rain, unfortunately.  We were there early enough to see Connor and watch the teams warm up.  Keuka played hard and well but Wittenberg had one player who dominated so Keuka lost three straight, alas.  The good part is that Connor was able to come back with us for dinner and he stayed the night.  Because the game ended earlier than we thought, we were back by 7:45.  My sister Linda brought appetizers so we sat around for a good hour, catching up with both boys, Connor and Dan, a sophomore baseball player at Wooster College, and Emily, a volleyball player and a junior at VASJ.

Dinner
Since Evie had more or less made dinner, all she needed to do was heat up the chicken, the brown rice, broccoli and put the dressing on the salad.  Dinner was great, everyone enjoyed it and then had homemade pumpkin pie and valentine cookies.  We sat around talking, listening to music until the boys decided to head up to bed, tired from the long day.  The rest of us followed and all were in bed by 1130, the end of a fun day.

Dan And Connor Head Back To School
It's now 10:40 as I finish up my blog after a big breakfast of eggs, a grits/sausage/cheese casserole and toasted focaccia.  Unfortunately, the boys had to leave early to get Connor to the team meeting at 9:30 and Dan had a baseball practice in Wooster at noon so they missed breakfast.  And the rest left around 10:30, to attend the final volleyball game for Keuka at 11:00, then drive home to Euclid.  The house is strangely quiet at the moment I must say.  It was a fun 24 hours.
