It's 7:42 and the clear sky, bright sun of the morning has disappeared as a vast bank of fog seems to be rolling towards Woodlawn, across Bemus Bay.  I was up at 6:30 to a pink glow above the horizon which slowly disappeared as the sun rose at 7:15, blinding me in my living room.

Kayak Morning
And another sparkling morning to paddle.

Kayak Morning
Breakfasting Among The Reeds
Yesterday was one of those days where you are at sixes and sevens, mostly because our Maine friends left, leaving us with an empty house and nothing to do after a couple of days of fun.  We always feel like this when family or friends leave, not sure what to do with our day.  Vickie and Ron left about 9:00, so Evie and I did little other than cleaning up the kitchen before we decided, around 10:30, to go for a paddle.  It was another amazing Indian Summer morning, just like the last few days, with warm temperatures, little wind, a calm lake.  We paddled over to Long Point, back to Sandy Bottom and home.  Usually, I raze a blue heron out of the reeds because I rarely see him.  Yesterday was an exception as we were able to spot him and take photos before he flew away, squawking at being disturbed from his breakfast.  I paddled home ahead of Evie because I had a teeth cleaning appointment in Jamestown at noon.  Always fun, I was out by 12:45 and decided to have a Havana burrito at the Labrinth Press Coffee shop, also a delicious vegetarian restaurant.  The burrito was great and big enough to take half home for lunch today.

When I got home,  Evie was ready to get busy, so she fired up the lawn mower and cut our lawn, chopping up quite a few fallen leaves as autumn has arrived and leaves have been dropping for over a week.  I did some reading and took my nap before joining her on the dock for some sunshine.  It was almost too hot out there, so  I did not last long.  While Evie was sitting out on our dock, our neighbors kayaked by, Ken and Majorie, and wondered if we were interested in going out to dinner to Pigs That Fly, a barbecue place on Lake Erie's Barcelona Beach.  Evie rarely turns down an invitation to avoid cooking so she said yes.  She came into shower and get ready to go out but I had enough time to take a bike ride up to Snug Harbor, down Davis Road to Stedman, and back to Victoria road and home.  I made it without stopping on any of the hills, a miracle for me.  I quickly showered and got ready and we walked over to Ken and Majorie's.  It's usually a 25 minute drive but Mayville was having a Chautauqua Lake Homecoming Parade which backed up traffic, forcing us to go on backroads, in this case, Plank Road which added only ten minutes to our drive.  It was such a lovely night that we worried to get a table outside on their patio but there was no problem.

7:10 PM
We were literally able to sit at a picnic table on Lake Erie's beach and watch the sun disappear into the lake around 7:15.  We ordered the meat platter for four with three fixings, more than enough with some leftover.  it's not my favorite place to eat, the barbecue rather mediocre, but the location is an A+.

Enjoying A Bonfire On Barcelona Beach
We decided next time we would go but sit at the bar and order their hand cut fries, the best part of our meal.  We got home around 9:00, in time to watch some of a CNN special on Trumps Tweets.  It was fairly uninteresting so we watched another Vice News before going to bed to read.
