A Happy Shopper |
At the moment, it's 6:30 and I am the only one awake. It's so humid that the windows are dripping with moisture. We are off to the lake this morning, with our granddaughter Halle in tow. It was a short stay in Virginia, just long enough to see Jill and Drew and get Halle packed. They will all be coming to the lake in a week.
We did not do much yesterday morning, just watching the thermometer get into the 90's by 11:00. We decided the best thing to do was get some shopping done and go out to lunch because both the car and wherever we ate would be air conditioned. So five of us drove off to Centreville, a suburb of DC, about 15 miles from Bristow. Jill had to pick up some folders for work near there, so we decided to eat lunch at a new hotspot called Sweetwater, a very cool and hip new restaurant, with a neat sunken bar in the middle of the restaurant. And even though it was a Friday afternoon, the place was packed and we felt lucky to get a booth. All of us had a micro brew to start with and then Monterrey salads with lightly fried chicken, although I also ordered a bowl of lobster bisque. It was a good choice and we all enjoyed our meals although later in the day we paid for having a beer and a big lunch. I have to add that when we walked out to the car, I almost felt ill because of the heat, humidity, the asphalt parking lot.

Lunch at Sweetwaters |
After lunch, we did a quick stop at Trader Joe's to pick up some two buck chuck, then went straight home because all of us were ready for a nap. Drew was supposed to fly out around 6:00 for Paris but his flight was postponed till later so he was able to relax at home till around 5:00, and finally left around 7:30, the beginning of a long flight for him which will eventually end in Nigeria tomorrow morning. The rest of us hung out until 5:00 when Jill and I went to pick up a few things for dinner and for Halle. We were back by 6:30 and Evie was already getting the fixings for pizza we bought at Trader Joe's ready for Halle and her friend. The pizza was surprisingly good and we finished every last piece.

Halle and Carleigh |
After dinner, Evie helped Halle get packed while the rest of us sat watching the movie SOUTHPAW occasionally, in between playing or reading on our devices. I cannot say it was one of my favorites but I did catch some of it. Just about the time we were ready for bed, Hayden was ready for her nightly run with one of her cross country teammates. I would have gone with her but I was tired. That's a joke.
