Sunny And 25º In Kansas City

School Ready at 6:30

7:28
Yep
I was up at 6:00, just before Marlena, who as an 8th grader,  gets up by herself at 6:15 and is dressed and off to school by 6:45.  What a girl. I can remember having to be wrenched out of bed in the mornings by my mom.

Off To The School Bus
Yesterday was a lost day in a way, as we did little but sit around and watch football game after football game, too lazy to get up and do something productive.  We left Lake Of The Ozarks as planned, by 8:00 and had an easy two hour ride back to Lee's Summit.  It was another cool but sunny morning and the drive was pleasant, much of the way passing by farms with cattle grazing.  We were home by 10:15 and Tom and Mary quickly changed into their Kansas City Chief gear and drove off with their good friends, the Burlingames, at 11:00, in time to make it to the 12:00 start of theChiefs game with Tampa Bay.

Missouri Countryside
We stayed home with Marlena, watched some football, helped her with her homework until she had to leave for a birthday party at 2:30.  We then watched more football until it was clear the Chiefs were going to lose, so we then drove to HyVee, the grocery store, about 10 minutes away.  It was a mad house even on Sunday as everyone was getting ready for their Thanksgiving Day Feast.  We dislike shopping in other city's stores because we spend half of our shopping time looking for a product.  Yesterday was no exception but we found the people who work there helpful, so we were able to get out in a decent time.

Where's The Family
When we got home, both Tom and Mary were back from the game, having left before it was over, like us, giving up on the Chiefs.  Both were wiped out, so they took naps, as did I if I remember correctly.  Evie, however, wanted to get dinner prepped, so she worked in the kitchen, getting the pork tenderloins seared and roasted, the salad ready, the garlic spinach made.  We relaxed when everyone was a awake though still tired and had a glass of wine.  Dinner was early for us, around 5:30 because we really had not eaten much all day.  Marlena was still at the birthday party, unfortunately, so we ate without her.  Dinner was great, pork tenderloin with wine/broth/shallot sauce, a salad, and a creamed garlic spinach to die for.  I had forgotten how good it is because we usually just have garlic spinach at home, no cream.

Sunday Night Dinner In Lee's Summit, MO
We ended the night watching the Music Awards, at times wowed by the performances by groups like 21 Pilots, dismayed by some of the vulgarity and coarseness of some of the Rap groups' lyrics and dance moves.  I know, we sound like old folks.

Tom was the first to go to bed around 9:30, tired from the full day, but the three of us stayed up watching the Music Awards until 10:30, when we had enough.

Not sure what today will bring other than Nick, our grandson, who will arrive tonight late from college, a day earlier than we expected.  We cannot wait to see him.
