Family |
It's a cold morning but sunny and the adults are up at the moment, 9:00, drinking our coffee and making lists, for tonight's prime rib dinner, Thursday's Thanksgiving dinner. And soon, we will be on our way to Costco to stock up. Yippee.
We had a great Saturday as we did much more than either of us expected and got to see quite a bit of the city. We did not get started until around noon, as we wanted to get the rib roast on, sous-vide, and I was able to take young Cody for a walk, so that I could really get a feel for the neighborhood. Great tree lined streets, mostly oaks, and neat homes, mostly stone or brick, old with a few tear downs, and interesting, always different architecture. Around noon, we left to return a few things at North Park, the major mall in Denver, 'huge' as Donald Trump would say, 'the greatest.' It was impressive, and we were lucky to find a place to park on a Saturday.

One Of Many Ponds |
Afterwards, we drove to the Dallas Arboretum, a perfect day for walking around and admiring the 12 days of Christmas Exhibits, as well as at least thirty to forty different gardens, all named for the donor, each different and interesting, all set above of White Rock Lake. It was crowded with families because it was a beautiful but cool afternoon and most were over dressed as if a cold wave suddenly hit Dallas. Obviously, none are used to Chautauqua winters! We then drove around some of the neighborhoods in downtown; the architecture of the homes amazing, especially along a section on Swiss Street, near White Rock Lake.

Black Eyed Susan |
We were home around 3:30, in time to watch the Ohio State game and see them lose in the last seconds to Michigan State; they deserved to finally lose, it should have happened earlier.

Rami And Marisa Waiting in Line at Emporium for PIE!! |
We left at 5:45 for an area that has recently become hip, Bishop Arts District, most likely a result of gentrification. It's not far from downtown Dallas, with lots of neat, eclectic shops, like an open air furniture store, with a band playing most of the evening. We walked around for about twenty minutes before ending up at Zen, a new sushi bar. We had reservations but probably did not need them as it was not very crowded, not a good sign.

Fortunately, the sushi was good, a couple of great appetizers, buns with pork carnitas and slaw and a fried eggplant with cubed tuna and avocado on top. Both were great, worth ordering again. When we finished, we did some more shopping, along with many others, before ending up waiting in line at Emporium, a small pie shop which always seems to have a line outside, especially in the evening.

Marisa Chilled And Chillin |
We waited for about 25 minutes before squeezing inside, next to the seated patrons, and ordered five different slices of pie to go, like pecan, apple and banana cream. We drove home though a well lit skyscrapers in downtown Dallas, much more built up than I anticipated, high rises everywhere, with a couple of neat bridges over the Trinity River.

Evie's Favorite Sign |
We were home around 9:30, settled down to watch some junk TV and eat our pie. Scrumptious, especially the thick pie crust, We were exhausted from our day of fun, so we were ready for bed by 10:30, mostly because Evie has an early trip to Costco this morning with Rami. Tradition.
