It's 7:30 and those who are awake are enjoying a relaxing morning, that means Evie, Rami, Marisa and me.  Marisa and Mitch don't have to head to school until 9:30 because of the ice.  It's a gray morning, with three to six inches of snow predicted for this evening even though the high today will be in the 40's. The fickle weather is becoming the norm.

Yesterday was our typical morning, taking the two kids to school, Beth leaving mid morning for appointments, Rami working in his office and Evie and I just hanging out and planning the dinner.  Around 10:30, we decided to drive to Stew Leonard's in Norwalk, and pick up some goodies for the kids.  We of course love shopping in the store so it's no travail to go their.  We picked up a few necessities but mostly goodies we love, sushi for lunch, cherry pie and ice cream for after dinner, freshly fried sweet potato chips for a snack, bagels for breakfast, shrimp as an appetizer, and a couple bottles of wine for before dinner.  Love that store.

When we got home, Beth had returned and we had a great lunch of leftover chicken piccata and sushi, then decided to break routine and we all sat down, albeit guiltily, and watched the last episode of House of Cards, Season One, so we could then start Season Two in the evening.  A great ending to the year, we will speed watch Season Two.  Mitch and Marisa were home by 2:45 and enjoyed their snack, a bag of sweet potato chips.  It did not last long.

They both then went up to do their homework, so Evie and  I decided, despite the beginning snowfall, to take Cody for a walk along the Long Island Sound, at Pears Tree Point Park, about fifteen minutes away.  We were the only car in the parking lot, Gorhams Pond, rough and gray, with a couple of tug boats anchored in the middle. We could hardly see across the water to Weeds Beach because of the snow.  We walked to the tip of Long Neck Point Road where a monastery, now a series of condos sit.  And we passed a huge open parcel of land, overlooking the water which Ramiro told us had just sold for fourteen million dollars.  The homes along this road, of course, are amazing, each one distinctive, and larger than the other.  It was a wet snow, so we were out for only about forty five minutes but Cody loved the walk as much as we did.

We were home by 5:30, in time to open the wine and get out the shrimp, as the kids suddenly appeared from their rooms, ready for a snack before dinner.  And dinner was easy, stuffed cabbage rolls (pigs in a blanket) which Evie had made a month ago in Chautauqua but brought with us and froze.  So all that needed to be done was mash some potatoes and Beth made a caprese salad.  Dinner was just as good as if the cabbage rolls were just made and even the kids seemed to like them.  We then watched an episode of Modern Family, then Marisa went up to bed. The four of us then binge watched the first two episodes of Season Two of House of Cards, and all of us were strangely bored after Zoey gets shoved in front of subway train.  I know every show has its ups and downs, so we hope we get more into it as Francis and Claire push and shove anything or anyone who gets in their way.
