Saturday Afternoon In Darien

We are up earl. at 6:00 as we leave for the lake this morning; we hope to be off by 7:00 at the latest and I think we will make it.

Yesterday was not much fun for anyone; I continued to have coughing jags, and nothing seemed to relieve it.  So, I sat around most of the day, sucking on cough drops, drinking tea with honey, and taking a nap.  Rami and Tyler did not get off for Dartmouth until about 8:30, much later than they hoped but it was no big deal.  Ramiro, however, didn't get home till after 8:00 in Darien because of the snow on the East Coast.

I did get out with Beth to do some grocery shopping at Trader Joe's and Stop and Shop, and we stopped at a drug store to pick up some kind of cough suppressant that did little good as far as I could see.  Evie and Marisa worked on the upstairs, organizing Marisa's closet and room, something both of them like to do.  And Evie helped Mitch some with his room, so the kids rooms are ready for next week when they go back to school.

We did not do much during the afternoon, played games on our iPads, watched reruns of The Office, a show Marisa has come to enjoy.  With iPads, Wifi, and Netflix, most kids nowadays are able to watch almost anything they want, at any time.  We bought a pork roast, with ribs at Costco on Saturday, so Beth coated it with rosemary, sage and garlic and we were going to barbecue it on the grill but because of the snow, we cooked it inside for a couple of hours.  For lunch, we bought three containers of won ton soup from the local Chinese restaurant, then I watched some basketball, took a nap, and took it easy the rest of the afternoon

It started to snow around 3:00, just enough to cover the ground, the leaves of the rhododendrons, and the tree branches.  I immediately checked to see if the weather for tomorrow, when we drive home, had changed but it hadn't, highs in the 50's along our entire route though we will get some rain. The snow and sleet comes on Monday which is why we decided to leave tomorrow.

Rami did not get back from New Hampshire until 8:00 just in time to gather around the tube to watch the Steelers, Ramiro's team, though Marisa put on her Seahawk shirt just to get her father's goat. Needless to say, I did not stay up for the entire game, a good thing as the Steelers lost to the Ravens.
