A Snowy Blur Of A Morning

7:-01
7:27
I was up just before 7:00, a wet snow frosting the tree branches, a few snow flakes falling, the lake and shoreline a blur, like a vast screen of gray.  It's 30ยบ outside, more snow on the way and the temperature drops tonight as the snowfall picks up.  We will have to wait and see how many inches fall in the next couple of days as the forecast ranges from 5-8 to 24 inches.  Someone will be correct.

Yesterday, for both of us, seemed like a real Sunday even though it's not much different from the rest of the week.  I  guess we have been conditioned to think of Sunday as different, more a day of rest or leisure, thus we feel little guilt if we waste it.  Around 10:00, after a long coffee/NPR filled morning, we got our mojo together and went kayaking, thinking it might be fun to kayak as the snow fell.  It didn't snow but we had a grand paddle, all the way to Tom's Point, around the corner to see the bridge, then back along the shoreline, at least an hour and a half paddle.

It was cold but we were dressed for it, and the only parts that were cold when we returned were our hands and feet.  Not much we can do about that I suppose.  We were  the only ones on the lake, no fishing boats, no hunters, and calm waters both going and coming.  It was a clear day though cloudy and the reflections of homes in the distance, like Whitney Bay, appeared strangely misshapen, vast and boxlike, because of their reflection in the water.  It happens quite often but seemed more prominent yesterday as we paddled.
Returning To Woodlawn
We walked in about 12:30 and while Evie made breakfast, I called AAA because our Accord would not start.  About 1:15, the towing service arrived, did a battery check, tried to start it with no luck, so he towed it away to my local mechanic, Johnson's Keystone, and today will be my third trip to a mechanic in a week.  Time to start thinking about a new car I suppose.  The problem, there's no car out there that gets mileage in the 40's, has four wheel drive, and can pull my boat in an out of the water.  Thus, I have to sacrifice one of the three and am not sure which to jettison.  Problems.

Breakfast, as usual, was perfect, organic chicken sausages (courtesy the Leonard's freezer), bagels, and fried eggs -- Yum.  The rest of the day was spent watching the Browns lose in a very depressing game.  While I cornered the couch, Evie was in the kitchen prepping for pizza night, making fresh dough, getting all the fixings ready to cover our pizzas. It always takes longer than we think, much like prepping for a wok meal.  After the Browns loss, I went for a walk through the campground, a cold but invigorating late afternoon, to clear my head from lying around all afternoon.

We then relaxed in the living room with a glass of red wine, as Evie would occasionally get up to pull one pizza out of the oven, push the other one in.  By 6:30, we had three spectacular pizzas.  With a salad, of course, we had dinner.  We watched three more episodes of Fargo.  It continues with its gratuitous violence, part of its shtick, but it puts Evie off though we keep watching.  We will finish the series this week, and wonder if Billy Bob will ever be caught or will he reappear in the series next year.  We also watched Homeland before going up to bed, a tense episode, as Saul breaks out of captivity only to be caught again.  And Carrie has discovered the bad guys have been messing with her meds...how she figures this out we are not sure.  Hey, this is television.  We went upstairs around 10:30, to read.  I am half way through The Rosie Project.
