A Few Hours From Chautauqua Lake

Rising Sun While Leaving KC
Early Morning Driving East on Interstate 70
Back at a Hampton Inn, outside of Columbus, and it's 7:30.  The breakfast bar is not very busy, and it looks like a nice day for our ride home to the lake.

We left Kansas City at 7:00 yesterday, to a blazing rising sun, as we headed East on Interstate 70.  It was our typical return home from Kansas, fortunate with the weather and traffic, so we made good enough time and had planned on driving the entire way home, about 15 hours.  But by the time we hit the Columbus area, we wore out and thought how silly it was to go all the way.  Relax, get a room, and we will have a short drive tomorrow.  For once, I listened to reason and we stopped. Maybe I am starting to mature. No night out as we were tired, so I just got us some take out and we lay in bed, enjoying our food as we watched The Voice.  Meanwhile, our son Tom and his wife Mary, were enjoying the first KC Royals playoff baseball game in years.  It was amazing game, going into extra innings, with KC winning, as the fans went wild.  A fun night for them.

We should be getting home sometime in the afternoon, early enough to enjoy some sunshine and warm air as it's going to be a high of 70º at the lake, a cool day compared to our days in Kansas City where the high each day was around 85º, not that I am complaining.  We had a great time, great weather with Tom and Mary and their family and cannot wait to go back and see them again, maybe at Thanksgiving.
