More Bass Boats, Clouds, And Cool Days

6:53
Awakened at 7:00 by the bass boats, perhaps the last time this year. Streaks of rose above the shoreline, fading and becoming a dull gray as the sun began to rise.  Now, at 8:00, it's a gray morning, sky and lake, but not my mood.

Lots of wind yesterday, occasional breaks of sunshine in an otherwise cloudy, cool and windy fall September Saturday.  I started my day with yoga, a new class and  teacher.  It was by far the most rigorous class I have had, with little pause between various asanas. But, I really liked it, the teacher, her emphases, the variety she brought to our class.  It is interesting how different each teacher and their class is, no matter where I go, different beginnings and endings to class, asanas as well as messages or sutras.  Everyone seemed to really like this class as well and were upset when she said she would not have class next week. `

When I got home, Evie was taking a small bite out of a big elephant, the messy attic, where we store all our junk (much of which we should throw out but can't), the stuff from summers and winters we don't use.  Half of the attic, unfortunately, has no floor, just studs, so I  helped some by cutting down a leftover sheet of plywood, which would fit in the eves.  It worked fairly well, so that we now half of one side, a quarter, done.  We had enough after an hour of coughing from the insulation.

The rest of the day we just relaxed, as I surfed through the hundreds, an exaggeration, of football games on all the channels, none of which I cared about.  It's amazing how football has taken over the viewing schedule on weekends, and is creeping into night during the week.  I had hoped to do more work on my dock, this time having to get into the water but it was too cool, the lake algae ridden so I put it off for another day.
Late Afternoon Sky
For dinner, Evie went out of her way, and heated up some leftover chicken and baked potatoes, by making some packaged gravy!  Dinner was fine, with asparagus and a salad, and we watched a highly thought of Indian movie called THE LUNCHBOX, a slowly developed love story between an unhappy housewife (her husband is having an affair), and a soon to retire office accountant.  She makes a lunch each day, puts the various dishes in a stack of tins and in one of them, includes a note describing her unhappiness.  The office worker gets these lunch tins by mistake and replies, and we soon have a beginning of a relationship, by notes in the lunchbox.  Things move slowly but we were never bored, up to the point where she leaves her home with her daughter the same day he hurries, by train to meet up with her.  And, then, the movie ends, and we never know whether they meet up or not, infuriating but artistic.  Neither one of us were happy with the ending but we did like the film. Afterwords, we watched the Bill Maher special from DC, hilarious if you are a liberal, infuriating if a conservative, as he refuses to back down, stepping over the line of good taste at times.  And I finished my book, THE UNLIKELY PILGRIMAGE OF HAROLD FRY, a Booker Prize nominee in Great Britain, a wonderful story of a man, realizing he's never really lived, decides to walk to give succor to an old friend who is dying.  As he goes, he finds himself, reconciles with his wife, and discovers how to live in the present, with the mistakes and tragedies of the past, the uncertainty of the future.  A good book and story.
