Onward To The Lake

The Bissell's At Dusk
We are both up early, way too early, at 5:00 because we want to get a good start back to the lake.  It looks like a great day for a drive, sunny and warm and with luck, we should be back to the lake by 2:00.  We said our sad good bye's last night because we wanted to let the family sleep in Saturday morning.
Halle And Her Dad
Yesterday was our typical day here in Virginia.  Hayden was off  to school by 7:30, then I drove Halle to school at 8:40 and by the time I got back, Jill was off to her class.  So I took Coco out for a long walk, even though he seems to be a reluctant little guy, wanting to head for home at every break in our walk. We persevered, however, for about 45 minutes, and got home around 10:30 and even though it was not as humid as earlier in the week, I worked up a sweat.  I took a quick shower, and did some packing.  At 11:00, both Evie and I went off to the Atlas Plaza, to do some shopping.  Evie stopped in Target while I checked out a camera at Best Buy with a telephoto lens.  Neither of us stayed long, so I then picked her up and we went shopping at Giant, the local grocery store, to pick up food for dinner.  The people in the store were amazingly friendly, wanted to know where we were from, and one had even been camping in the Chautauqua area in the 1970's with his father.  It was a fun shopping experience.
Hayden and Coco
We got home around 12:30 and we decided to get things ready for dinner.  So I made up some Hawaiian macaroni salad, mostly elbow pasta with mayo, shredded carrots and onions, the kind you might get on a plate lunch in Hawaii.  Evie put together the Juicy Lucy's, a burger with cheese in the middle.  Drew got home around 1:00, so Evie made us BLT's, and then he had some work to do on the downstairs toilet, as a seal needed to be replaced. As usual, it was more difficult then it seemed, so he will have to wait till today to pick up some parts.  Evie picked Halle up at 3:40, just as Hayden was going off to the movies with a girl friend.  When Jill returned from class, we sat outside on their porch for quite a while, enjoying the cooling late afternoon, sipping a glass of chardonnay.
A Pensive Halle
Hayden's movie was not over till 6:30 so we waited till she got home before we grilled the burgers. We were able to eat outside because it was still nice, and we devoured the burgers, Hawaiian salad, and roasted cauliflower, a perfect meal for outdoors. We sat outside after dinner, again enjoying the dusk, and had Evie's favorite dessert, also the girls, Nutty Buddy's from Giant.  By the time we started on the dishes, it was 9:00, time for Halle to start thinking about bed.  We stayed up till 10:00 when the girls and everyone else went to bed, all of us tired from a hard week.
