Hot And Humid Virginia

Halle's Ready For School
Up at 6:30 and Jill was already up drinking coffee.  She spent the next half hour yelling up to Hayden to get up.  Brings back memories of getting our kids up in the mornings to go to school.  How many times a morning did we yell upstairs for each one to get up. Once they are up, it's "Let's finish your breakfast," then "Is your backpack ready?  Do you have your lunch?"  Things don't change; kids always want to sleep in for five more minutes, dilly dallying before taking off for school, and parents feel obligated to make sure they are up and prepared.  Life goes on.
A Humid Morning Walk To School
Yesterday was as easy day for Evie and me, as he girls were in school for the day.  Hayden was off by 7:40 and we dropped Halle off at 8:40, leaving us with the rest of the morning and early afternoon.  I decided to take Coco for a long walk around the neighborhood, filled with parked cars.  It seems as though everyone has at least two if not three or four cars.  And they park them on the street, both sides, making it difficult to navigate, especially in the evening when everyone is home.  We were out walking for about forty five minutes and Coco seemed to feel the heat and couldn't wait to get home and snuggled up on a couch in the air conditioned house.  The walk was the first time I have really felt the heat and humidity of summer since last August.

New Patio, Chairs, Tree, and Vase
Around 11:00, Jill's cleaners arrived, so Evie and I took off to Wegman's, about fifteen minutes away, one of their huge flagship stores.  It's so big a neophyte could get lost.  We mostly browsed, then picked up dinner, tilapia, then had lunch at one of their many food areas.  We passed up the sushi and wine bar to have pizza and coke.  We were home to an empty house around 1:00, and Evie started to prep some for dinner and I read and took a nap.  Hayden arrived home around 3:30 and Evie picked up Halle at 3:40. We had picked up a pizza slice for Hayden's dinner because she had a four hour dance practice.  Fortunately, one of the dance mom's was taking Hayden so we could relax the rest of the day.
Deck, Early Morning
Drew was home by 4:00 and Jill followed around 4:30.  Halle wanted to play with a neighbor so Evie and I walked her over, picked her up just before 6:00, for dinner.  And we sat outside again, on the porch, with a beer and chips, enjoying the late afternoon even though it was still in the 80's.

Evie made great baked, breaded tilapia for dinner, along with corn on the cob, home fries and cole slaw. Nothing was left even though there were only five of us because Hayden was at dance.  We did little the rest of the evening.  I took Coco out for another short walk, both Jill and Drew made lunches, getting ready for the next day.  Hayden did not get home until 9:40, an awfully long day for a twelve year old but she did not seem to mind.  Evie heated up the leftover home fries for her, and she was wired, so she stayed up talking with Evie till about 10:30, before going upstairs to do homework and go to bed.  A very busy girl.  Everyone was in bed by then as well, the end to a fine day.

Well, we just made a mistake, deciding to walk Halle to school.  By the time we got home, we were both soaked in sweat from a fifteen minute walk. Thank Aeolus for air conditioning.
