Dinner at Brennan's, with Vi Buck |
Fresh Perch Dinner at Brennan's, Grand River, Ohio |
Yesterday was, believe it or not, a sunny day on the lake, as it warmed up to almost 40ยบ and the snow started melting, on the trees, lawns, roofs, and driveways. We did manage to get some snow shoeing in this morning, doing the Woodlawn/Victoria loop. Lots of animal tracks on the freshly fallen snow, mostly deer but also squirrels, rabbits, an a fox or coyote. We were out for about forty five minutes. Again, it's amazing to be outside with sun, a blue sky, and snow, whiter than ever because of new fallen snow and the sun. We then began the onerous task of packing for a couple of days, making sure we have all our electronic gear, connections, computers, IPADS, as well as clothes. Packing never gets easier as there's always something new to add to your pack.
We left for Painesville, Ohio, at 3:15 where we spent Friday night with our good friend Vi Buck, also an OU graduate, wife of my late good friend, Lloyd Buck. We are going to celebrate the opening of the new basketball locker room, with a locker dedicated in Lloyd's name, a gift from his teammates.
We got to Painesville at 5:30, an easy ride. For dinner, we went out for a fish fry at an old bar/restaurant called Brennan's, on the Grand River. I can remember going there with my parents back in the 1960's, with my sisters in the 1970's. It's a beat up old place with lots of charm. We had the perch fish fry, huge servings of fish, fries, and cole slaw, just what Evie wanted. We had a great time, met the owner, a good friend of Vi's as well as other friends of hers. We got home around 8:00 in time to watch Akron/Kent game on TV, then the Cavs. We were all tired, went to bed at 10:30.
